VARA’s Brut and Brut Rosé now available in Albertsons and Smith’s locations statewide, with additional releases to follow
September 24, 2025 (Albuquerque, NM) — VARA Winery & Distillery, the Albuquerque-based winery and craft distillery, is making it easier than ever for New Mexicans to enjoy locally crafted sparkling wines. VARA’s award-winning Brut and Brut Rosé are now available in Albertsons and Smith’s grocery stores statewide, giving fans and newcomers alike the chance to bring New Mexico–made bubbles to their tables with ease.

A total of 47 stores—23 Albertsons and 24 Smith’s locations—will carry VARA’s Brut and Brut Rosé, with the Zero Dosage and VARAxLG Blanc de Blancs joining the lineup at Albertsons later this year.
The grocery launch also highlights the leadership of Jon Murray, recently promoted to General Manager at VARA, who is spearheading efforts to make the winery’s portfolio more accessible to consumers across the state. With more than two decades in the wine industry, Jon has long worked alongside Laurent Gruet and Sofian Himeur—first at Gruet Winery, where their collaboration began over 20 years ago, and now at VARA, where their shared expertise continues to shape the future of American sparkling wine. His experience spans sales, hospitality and wine distribution, bringing both seasoned perspective and innovative drive to VARA’s mission of making exceptional sparkling wines approachable and widely celebrated.
