Three wines available both to taste at winery and online to purchase
June 17, 2025 (Calistoga, CA) — Castello di Amorosa, Napa Valley’s iconic Tuscan-style castle winery, proudly introduces Libero, a line of three alcohol-removed wines crafted with the same care and standards as its award-winning portfolio. The collection debuts with one of the world’s first curated alcohol-removed tasting flights, featuring an estate-grown Moscato.

At a time when non-drinkers often have limited choices, Libero offers a refined and intentional experience. The tasting includes Libero Moscato ($27), Libero Sparkling Bianco ($29), and Libero Cabernet Sauvignon ($32) alongside the Castello’s three popular grape juices (Muscat Canelli, Gewurztraminer, Sparkling Red).
“Libero means ‘free’ in Italian — free to choose, free to savor, and free to celebrate without limits,” says Peter Velleno, Winemaker at Castello di Amorosa. ” We created Libero to offer everyone a wonderful tasting experience at the Castello, with or without alcohol,” he adds.
A Tasting Experience for All
Tasting experiences start at $60 per person and are designed for every guest — from wellness-focused travelers to expecting parents and the sober-curious. Visitors may opt for a fully non-alcoholic flight or blend Libero with traditional wines for a personalized experience.
“This is about more than just wine,” says President Georg Salzner. “It’s about belonging. About making sure that no one feels left out when they visit the Castello. That every guest, every story, every toast matters,” he explains.
The Libero tasting experience is available now at Castello di Amorosa, allowing wine lovers to savor the Castello spirit — no matter their lifestyle.
Castello di Amorosa products, including this exciting new line of Libero non-alcoholic wines, are sold only at the castle, through the winery website, or by calling the winery.
Innovating Non-Alcoholic Winemaking with Estate-Grown Moscato
Crafting premium non-alcoholic wine presents unique challenges such as removing alcohol can strip wine of body, richness, and aromatic depth. To overcome these, Castello di Amorosa selected aromatic Moscato and bold Cabernet Sauvignon, varietals known for retaining their character through the process.
“We use cutting-edge spinning cone and vacuum technology to gently remove alcohol at low temperatures, preserving the wine’s natural aromatics and structure,” explains Peter Velleno. “For the Libero Moscato, we developed a proprietary technique to capture and retain the vibrant flavors and aromas of the original wine—relying solely on methods and components traditionally used in winemaking, with exacting attention to detail. The result is a non-alcoholic wine that reflects the purity, nuance, and expressive character of our estate-grown fruit, crafted to the same high standards expected of fine Napa Valley wines,” he adds.
The new 2024 Libero Moscato offers delicate geranium petals, orange blossom, and honeysuckle aromas on the nose, which give way to vibrant flavors of ripe pear, sun-kissed mandarin, and crisp green apple — a lively balance of sweetness and fresh acidity. The Moscato pairs deliciously with honey-drizzled goat-cheese crostini, lemony calamari salad or spicy Thai green curry.
