Le Monde’s Pinot Bianco embodies sophistication and versatility, honouring both the grape variety and the unique character of the Friuli region. With two distinct expressions, Pinot Bianco DOC and Alma Pinot Bianco DOC, the winery reaffirms its commitment to crafting high-quality single-varietal wines, while remaining deeply rooted in the local winemaking tradition.
April 30, 2025 (Prata di Pordenone, Friuli-Venezia-Guilia) — Introduced to Friuli in the 19th century, Pinot Bianco has, over recent years, established itself as one of the most distinctive expressions of this region. Le Monde, located between the rivers Livenza and Meduna in Western Friuli, is today recognised as one of the leading interpreters of this grape variety. Benefitting from ideal soil conditions, the estate enables Pinot Bianco to express its full potential. This vision has given rise to two benchmark labels: Pinot Bianco DOC, awarded the prestigious Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso for ten consecutive years, and Alma Pinot Bianco DOC, part of the winery’s Icone collection, aged in oak barrels and celebrated for its significant ageing potential. These are two wines of strong character, ideal companions for seasonal spring dishes.

«The quality of Pinot Bianco is closely linked to the nature of the soil, and our vineyards enjoy a perfect balance between clay and a high level of active limestone» explains Alex Maccan, the Friulian entrepreneur who has led Le Monde since 2008. «From the outset, we realised that single-varietal wines could best showcase the unique features of our crus, particularly Pinot Bianco, which over the years has become one of the cornerstones of our production. »
Pinot Bianco DOC Friuli undergoes a cold pre-fermentation maceration lasting between 24 and 36 hours, followed by gentle pressing and fermentation at controlled temperatures. The wine is then aged on fine lees for several months, developing a rich and enveloping complexity. In the glass, it presents a bright straw-yellow colour with delicate greenish highlights. On the nose, it offers a harmonious and characterful bouquet, with exotic fruit notes blending seamlessly with hints of white peach and subtle spicy nuances. The palate is warm and velvety, mirroring the aromatic profile, with a beautifully balanced structure and acidity. This versatile Pinot Bianco is the perfect match for roast beef, light appetisers, and seafood dishes.
Alma Pinot Bianco DOC stands out for its structured and age-worthy character. After a shorter cold pre-fermentation maceration of 12–24 hours and a soft pressing, the must is fermented slowly and carefully at controlled temperatures. This process imparts remarkable body and grants the wine an impressive capacity for ageing, up to ten years. In the glass, Alma reveals a bright straw-yellow colour with golden reflections. Its aromatic profile is intense and profound, with ripe exotic fruits, white peach, and mineral hints of flintstone. On the palate, it is velvety, savoury, and well-balanced, offering a warm structure and a lingering finish. Alma lends itself to a wide range of food pairings: it is perfect with delicate starters, fish dishes such as sea bream and lobster, seafood soups, and lighter main courses like roast beef.
Through its Pinot Bianco wines, Le Monde continues to champion the rich winemaking heritage of Friuli, bringing two authentic and expressive interpretations of this exceptional grape to the glass.
