Lumo Brings Precision Irrigation Solution to Central Coast Growers with Two New Strategic Partners

Lumo, the precision irrigation company revolutionizing water management through the invention of the smart valve, has partnered with AvidWater and Advanced Viticulture to bring its innovative, automated watering system to the Central Coast wine regions of California.

The partnership announcement underscores Lumo’s phenomenal success with its smart valve technology, where more than 70 Napa and Sonoma County vineyards, including 5 of the 10 largest winegrowers in the U.S., have already adopted the solution, enabling them with precision irrigation capabilities that improve both crop and business outcomes.

AvidWater, a California-based irrigation dealer specializing in system design, construction, service and water treatment methodologies, has a proven track record of helping growers expand and improve technology to maximize crop outcomes and drive efficiencies.

The company’s history of success and long reach into the Central Coast make them an ideal partner to help Lumo roll out its expansion into one of the state’s primary wine producing areas.

“We knew it was imperative to have dedicated local support in place to deliver an exceptional experience to farmers,” notes Devon Wright, Lumo’s CEO. “We feel confident moving into new regions like the Central Coast because of AvidWater’s stellar reputation as a world class installation and support partner across California.”

“More than ever, growers need a way to automate their irrigation to use their time and resources as efficiently as possible,” agrees Frank M. Toves, AvidWater’s President and CEO. “We’re proud to help Lumo’s expansion to the Central Coast and beyond at this critical time for the industry.”

Advanced Viticulture is a high-end vineyard management and consulting company, specializing in providing science-based services and leading-edge technology to coastal California vineyards.

Advanced Viticulture’s partnership with Lumo will focus on bringing the company’s smart valve systems to both their Central and North Coast vineyard partners to increase irrigation precision and operational efficiencies, while also collecting important data to make further improvements over time.

“With limited water resources and labor getting harder to find and more costly, our customers need reliable irrigation automation that they can depend on, especially to execute our irrigation management guidance,” declares Mark Greenspan, Advanced Viticulture’s President and Viticulturist. “Lumo’s integrated smart valves absolutely fill that need. They give growers operational simplicity and accountability that their irrigation system is working as intended—something previous automation solutions were missing.”

“At Advanced Viticulture, we care about our customers’ outcomes and take pride in recommending only technology products that we know will move the needle in terms of cost savings and crop improvement,” Greenspan emphasizes.

The roll out of Lumo’s smart valves into the vineyards of the Central Coast is expected to happen rapidly, in time to be up and running for the coming growing season.

“We’re excited about our partnerships with AvidWater and Advanced Viticulture to bring smart valve technology to the vineyards of the Central Coast,” sums up Lumo’s Devon Wright. “We know it will help growers gain a more holistic understanding of their irrigation systems, which means they can be more efficient and self-reliant in the ways they need and want to be.”

If you’re interested in seeing a live demo of Lumo’s precision irrigation system, they’ll be hosting a Path to Precision Tailgate at Zobèto Wines in Paso Robles on February 4th from 9-11am, where complimentary coffee and breakfast will be served. You can register here. Or if you’re headed to Unified, you can stop by their booth (A2914).
