April 4th – Santa Margarita, CA—Ancient Peaks Winery today announced the hiring of Barry J. White as Vice President of Business Development, a new position that spans general management, DTC operations and distribution channel expansion.

“Barry is the right person to help us drive the continued growth of Ancient Peaks,” said Co-Owner Karl Wittstrom. “His skillset and experience are just what we need at this moment in the evolution of our winery.”

Added Co-Owner Doug Filipponi, “Barry has connections that will open new doors and maximize the potential of Ancient Peaks wines around the world. He will also refine our wine club, DTC efforts and on-site winery experiences.”

Founded in 2005 by Filipponi, Wittstrom and Co-Owner Rob Rossi, Ancient Peaks is a leading family-owned estate winery based in the Santa Margarita Ranch AVA of Paso Robles. Ancient Peaks wines are distributed across 48 states as well as Canada and Japan. The winery is renowned for its Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Oyster Ridge Bordeaux-style blend and other wines that reflect the unique character of its sustainably farmed estate Margarita Vineyard.

White comes to Ancient Peaks from Barton Family Estate in Paso Robles, where he served as General Manager for three years. Before that, White spent more than 20 years at Princess Cruises and Princess Cruise Line, where he most recently held the position of Senior Corporate Director of Food & Beverage Operations and Technology. In that position, he owned the total commercial responsibility for multi-concept food and beverage experiences across 17 ships worldwide.

White’s global experience as a hospitality executive, wine buyer, systems creator and technology innovator will help Ancient Peaks expand its revenue generation and experiential performance.

“I’m honored to join Ancient Peaks and to play an integral role in the next chapter of the brand at this exciting time in their journey,” White said. “The opportunity to work alongside Doug, Karl and Rob and the talented team at Ancient Peaks is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Ancient Peaks is a family-owned winery specializing in wines from our sustainably farmed estate Margarita Vineyard in Paso Robles on California’s Central Coast. Margarita Vineyard stands alone in the Santa Margarita Ranch AVA of Paso Robles, nestled into the rugged Santa Lucia Mountain Range just 14 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The name Ancient Peaks honors the tall peaks surrounding Margarita Vineyard, which were forged by the collision of the coastal plates. Over time, these same geologic forces blessed us with five distinct soil zones—ancient sea bed, rocky alluvium, shale, volcanic and granitic—that bring natural complexity to our wines. Our tasting room is located in Santa Margarita. Visit www.AncientPeaks.com for more information.
