You Probably Don’t Care About Slacker Wines’ New Video

November 16th – Paso Robles, California—Not that you care, but Slacker Wines today dropped a new video.

The one-minute video stars some unnamed rockers and beanie-clad slackers with Winemaker Matt Trevisan serving as a proverbial Greek chorus to the action.

If the video has a point, it’s this: there’s a wine for every slacker under the sun, whether it’s Computer Geek, Wanna Be, Stereotype or Self Esteem.

Slacker is the alter-ego of Trevisan’s Linne Calodo winery in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles—but don’t call it a second label.

“Slacker wines are way underpriced for the quality they offer,” Trevisan claims in the video without protesting too much.

Indeed, despite their shiftless vibe, Slacker wines are made to the same exacting standards as every Linne Calodo wine: all estate grown and meticulously crafted by Trevisan. In short, they are the lots that just missed getting past the velvet rope and into the iconic blends of Linne Calodo.

Subversive Streak

While Trevisan is renowned for creating some of California’s most notable wines at Linne Calodo, he also wields a subversive streak.

Trevisan farms his grapes with “nature positive” methods that exist in the gray areas of organic, biodynamic and regenerative. He recently ruffled feathers by resetting the winery’s tasting fees from $40 to $20, in an effort to promote better access to Linne Calodo’s wines and experiences. In his words, “If we want to win over the younger generation, we have to make it easier for them to get in the door and fall in love with great wine.”

Slacker fits right into that vision. “Slacker is a fun introduction to the wines of the Willow Creek District without all of the hoopla,” Trevisan said. “They’re all made from great fruit, they just didn’t fit into the other places I make wine.”

He added, “Enjoy them with your slacker friends who don’t do anything except surf the internet.”
