Our fully automated and natural system harnesses worms and microbes to remove contaminants. By pairing our Control Unit with the Wiggle Room, BioFiltro delivers the ultimate can of worms. Our prepackaged system includes a solid separator, pH adjustment system, flow meter, equalization tank, pumps, PLC & HMI and a two-story BIDA® System, our patented worm powered wastewater treatment process. Units are built in the US and clients are able to choose the color(s) of the unit(s).

Discharge from the winery enters the Control Unit through its included solid separator before arriving to the equalization tank. Here, probes and sensors monitor water quality before it is dispersed evenly across the two floors of the Wiggle Room(s) where it percolates down through layers of wood media where worms and microbes capture and digest contaminants. Once treated, water gravity feeds out of the system through exit pipes and is ready for reuse in irrigation in as little as four hours.

Blend our earthy tones with your sustainability forward wines and choose worms for not only the cost-effective, but also climate smart wastewater solution for your winery.

BioFiltro is an international wastewater treatment company. BioFiltro’s patented BIDA® System catalyzes the digestive power of worms and microbes to filter out wastewater contaminants within a four-hour intermittent batch process. Water from the facility is applied intermittently via a surface irrigation system to a bed that houses various medias, worms, and microbes.

As worms burrow through the bed digesting solids, they create channels which aerate the system while their castings, or excrement, propagate and nourish the biofilm which consumes dissolved and soluble contaminants. The water flows out of the system at the bottom through exit pipes, where it is ready for safe agricultural reuse or can be discharged to the sewer or land application area at a lower nutrient loading. Over time, the system accumulates a layer of worm castings which, when it is removed from the system, is a stabilized and microbial rich soil amendment beneficial for agricultural use.
