Located in the heart of wine country, the Mathew Bruno Rutherford Estate will offer a multiplicity of experiences centered on the wine portfolio of Mathew Bruno and genuine hospitality

Rutherford, CA, May 9, 2023 – The team behind small-production, family-owned wine brand, Mathew Bruno, is thrilled to announce that it is opening its first-ever tasting room in Rutherford, CA. On June 16, the Mathew Bruno Rutherford Estate, a turn-of-the-century vintage tasting room located in a 19th-century historic house, once known as, “the finest house in all of Rutherford,” will be unveiled. The house-turned-tasting room will be a gathering place to elevate the everyday and for family and friends to appreciate fine wine and create lasting memories.

“The rehabilitation of this historic site has long been a dream of our family. Upon first visiting the property, we knew this was the place for friends and family to come enjoy our wines in a truly unique location. We cannot wait to welcome guests to our Estate to share the story of our Italian family coming to America, the story of our winemaking in Napa Valley, and the stories of the families that have called this house a home,” – says founder Mathew Bruno.

A TASTE OF CALIFORNIA AT THE MATHEW BRUNO RUTHERFORD ESTATE

The Mathew Bruno Rutherford Estate will offer several distinctive tasting experiences, as well as accommodate private groups and events, all by appointment only. Guests can expect to enjoy from the following offerings, but not limited to:

  • Semi-private seating areas indoors or outside on the tasting room’s wraparound porch overlooking the courtyard, featuring 125-year-old olive trees, as well a lavender garden, bocce court, and the neighboring Star Vineyard.
  • A picnic basket of lite bites showcasing fresh, seasonal ingredients, like smoked salmon, curry chicken, curated cheese, and charcuterie from selected partners and cheesemongers in the area – all curated by partner and local purveyor Oakville Grocery – a local favorite since 1981.
  • Tastings of Mathew Bruno’s current releases, including Los Carneros Blanc de Blancs, Dry Creek Valley Rose, Yountville Sauvignon Blanc, Los Carneros Chardonnay, Sun Chase Vineyard Pinot Noir, and Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon.

A complete list of offerings based on tasting experience can be found at http://mathewbruno.com/visit/.

Mathew Bruno has garnered accolades for its single-vineyard, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rosé from prestigious vineyards throughout Napa and Sonoma. Its winemakers Stephens Moody and Dr. Nichola Hall capture the inherent characters of each site, working with an expanding portfolio of vineyards, including Stagecoach Vineyard, Beckstoffer’s To Kalon Vineyard, the Baldacci Family’s Honey B Vineyard and the Hoxsey Family’s Block House Vineyard, to name a few.

PRESERVING THE PAST, PAVING THE FUTURE

The Mathew Bruno Rutherford Estate conveys old-world Napa Valley charm – at a time when Victorian homes, walnut groves, and fruit trees populated the streets. Many of the original historic foundations and features were preserved, such as floor-to-ceiling bay windows that allow natural light to spill into the space.

While maintaining the foundations of the home, Mathew Bruno and team worked on renovations with esteemed architect Michael Guthrie, founder of MG+CO Architects, to lead the restoration and redesign of the property, as well as Chris Reed Interior Designs who integrated both authentic character and a modern aesthetic at the property. The interior features Pavés de Paris End-Grain French Oak Floors imported from Paris, bronze tables by sculptor and designer Chuck Moffit, blackened steel side tables from Coup D’Etat, and ornamental accents like a Grape Sprig Copper Sculpture by luxury designer, Robert Kuo.

“The Mathew Bruno Rutherford Estate bridges the gap between traditional and contemporary design. Guests will be delighted by the new shaded outdoor terraces overlooking lush gardens and vineyards, and the transformation of the former interior rooms into intimate tasting experiences. This historic Napa Valley property ties into the boutique quality of Mathew Bruno’s wines. There is truly a rich story to be told around every corner of the tasting room,” – says Guthrie.

Easily spotted from Rutherford Rd., the location features 25-foot tall Canary Palms Trees that were brought in from San Diego and reflect the historical significance of palm trees marking homes in the late 1800s. Moreover, Victorian-style, natural teak rockers by Gloster Furniture, decorate the wraparound porch with east, south, and north views of the courtyard featuring 125-year-old olive trees, repurposed water features, and mosaics, as well the lavender garden, bocce court, and the neighboring Star Vineyard.

The Mathew Bruno Rutherford Estate officially opens to the public on June 16 and is located at 1151 Rutherford Rd, Napa, CA 94558, near neighbors Rancho Caymus Hotel, Elizabeth Spencer Winery, Beaulieu Vineyards, Inglenook, and the Rutherford Grill. Hours of operation are Monday – Sunday, 10 am – 6 pm. To learn more, please visit the website at https://mathewbruno.com/visit/ or follow on Instagram at @mathewbrunowinery.
