Beyond the Expected: Asti DOCG Showcases Its Diversity at SommCon San Diego

November 2, 2026 (San Diego, CA) — The Consorzio Asti DOCG will participate as a sponsor in SommCon San Diego 2026, November 3–5 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, bringing the wines and territory of Asti DOCG to one of the United States’ leading gatherings for sommeliers, wine educators, buyers and beverage professionals.

As part of its participation, the Consorzio will welcome visitors at Booth 502, where attendees can taste Asti DOCG wines and discover the denomination’s distinctive expressions.

A key moment of the program will take place on November 4, 2026, with the seminar “Asti DOCG: The Most Misunderstood Sparkling Wine of Italy,” presented by Alan Tardi. The session will explore the history, territory and diversity of Asti DOCG, encouraging attendees to look beyond the category’s familiar image.

Rooted in the hills of Piedmont, Asti DOCG brings together three distinctive expressions: Asti Spumante DOCG, Moscato d’Asti DOCG and the newly introduced Asti Rosé DOCG. From sweet to dry styles, the denomination offers a remarkable diversity of aromatic wines, combining centuries of winemaking tradition with a contemporary approach to evolving consumer preferences. The introduction of Asti Rosé, crafted from Moscato Bianco and Brachetto grapes, further highlights the denomination’s ability to innovate while remaining deeply connected to its territory.

“SommCon gives us an important opportunity to meet the professionals shaping the future of wine in the United States and share a more complete story of Asti DOCG. We want attendees to discover the diversity of our wines, experience their different expressions and get to know the territory behind them,” said Giacomo Pondini, Director of the Consorzio Asti DOCG.
The Consorzio’s presence in San Diego is part of its broader international strategy to promote, protect and develop the Asti DOCG denomination while strengthening relationships with wine professionals and consumers around the world.
