October 7, 2026 (Napa, CA) — Seven Apart Winery introduces ‘Septem’ Cabernet Sauvignon, a new wine crafted from the estate’s youngest vines to produce a wine that is approachable upon release and ready for immediate enjoyment. As the winery’s seventh vintage and the first from the replanting of the Base Camp vineyard in 2021, Septem marks an important milestone.
Fifth-generation winemaker Morgan Maurèze describes this release as a passion project celebrating both the winery’s seventh vintage and its replanting efforts. With all fruit sourced from Seven Apart’s own vineyards, the release of Septem highlights Seven Apart’s commitment to showcasing the estate’s unique terroir and signifies a new generation for the winery, blending traditional quality standards with a modern approach to Napa winemaking.
“I wanted to create a wine from our estate’s youngest vines that is balanced and enjoyable right after release,” says Maurèze. “As Napa continues to evolve, younger wine consumers are seeking premium wines that are ready to drink immediately. Septem is characterized by its rich and ripe fruit flavors, balanced acidity, and refined tannins. The wine’s profile is designed to be more immediately approachable while maintaining the complexity that Seven Apart is known for. Septem begins with notes of eucalyptus, tarragon, and sage, then chocolate-covered strawberries, red cherry, and cassis, followed by dark chocolate mocha, plum, pomegranate, and a hint of black peppercorn at the finish.
Septem is primarily a valley floor wine, from Seven Apart’s Base Camp vineyard, with a kiss of Petit Verdot that comes from the winery’s Stags Ridge vineyard on Atlas Peak. It’s 90 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, finished with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The 2021 replanting marked a major milestone for Seven Apart, and this seventh vintage showcases their dedication to careful vineyard management and organic practices.
