French Wine Auctioneer iDealwine Launches Spanish-Language Website, Investing in Its Fastest-Growing Auction Market

October 1, 2026 (Paris, France) — Global leader in online fine wine auctions and specialist online wine store, iDealwine, today announced the launch of its Spanish website. The new, fully localised site gives collectors in Spain direct access to iDealwine’s auctions, and its vast selection of fine and rare wines, in their own language for the first time.

The French auctioneer has been shipping to Spain for 20 of its 26-year history, meaning this latest launch is not a foray into a new market, but an investment into a long-established and growing client base. Wine enthusiasts in Spain have long flocked to the French wine auctioneer in search of mature vintages and rare bottles, but until now, they have bid and browsed other available languages, generally French or English. Building a loyal and steadily growing community of Spanish wine lovers.

“Spain has been one of our fastest growing markets over the past 20 years, and it was high time our website spoke back to that community in its own language,” said Cyrille Jomand, auctioneer, co-founder and CEO of iDealwine. “We’re delighted to have invested in this new version of our website, and we are looking forward to being accessible to the wider Spanish wine community as well as continuing to build on relationships with our existing clients, formed over two decades. It’s a natural and, frankly, overdue step for us.”

Spanish Wines: Growing Demand at Auction

The launch comes as Spanish wines gain real momentum on the secondary market. According to iDealwine’s auction data, published in its annual Barometer, 2025 auction sales of Spanish wines rose 19% in volume and 27% in value compared with the previous year, a sharp acceleration in demand from collectors. Prices remain accessible even as interest builds, averaging around €84 per bottle versus €137 across all wine regions.

Alix Rodarie Keraval, Head of International Development at iDealwine said ‘Spain has been a growing market for quite some time: sales doubled last year and have risen by a further 37% this year. To no one’s surprise, our Spanish clients have excellent taste in wine – Bordeaux accounts for almost half of wine sales to Spain. The most sought-after chateaux are Petrus, Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Cheval Blanc, Château Haut-Brion, and Château Latour. That’s not to say our Spanish clients only buy French wine! In fact, Spanish buyers won bids on wines from Dominio del Águila, Bodegas Roda and Pior Terrae in 2025.’

Beyond the well-known names of Ribera del Duero and uber-rare old vintages, one estate stands out as Spain’s rising star at auction: Comando G. Founded in 2008 in the Sierra de Gredos near Madrid, this micro estate farms high-altitude old vines and produces small quantities of its flagship Garnacha cuvée, Rumba al Norte. With low supply and soaring demand, the price of Commando G wines have seen a striking rise at auction, with the 2018 vintage of Rumbo al Norte reaching €814 in 2025 and the 2021 vintage fetching €880 in February 2026. For collectors looking beyond the historic icons, Comando G symbolises a new generation of Spanish winemaking now being discovered by global enthusiasts on the secondary market.
