New Chehalem campus unites vineyards, winemaking and hospitality for the first time
September 30, 2026 (Sherwood, OR) — Chehalem, one of Oregon’s pioneering producers of Pinot Noir and aromatic white wines, is expanding its home in the Laurelwood District with the acquisition of the former Pamplin Family Winery property adjacent to Chehalem Estate. The acquisition by parent company Stoller Wine Group marks a significant milestone for the more than 30-year-old winery, creating a 255-acre campus for Chehalem’s vineyards, winemaking and hospitality experiences.
The 43.81-acre property includes a winery, agricultural buildings, cold storage warehouse and home, along with 15 acres of vineyard planted to Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. The purchase builds on Chehalem’s continued investment following the opening of the Chehalem Estate Tasting Room last year.
“To have an exceptional winery next door to our vineyard and tasting room is pretty remarkable,” said Gary Mortensen, president of Stoller Wine Group. “It’s rare for the pieces to come together this way. Bill Stoller’s 200-year vision was about building for the long term, and he would be incredibly proud of this moment.”
The facility was designed by Ernie Munch, the architect behind the Stoller Family Estate Reserve winery, creating a natural connection across the Stoller Wine Group portfolio. Purpose-built for small-lot winemaking and exceptionally well maintained, the winery will primarily require modest retrofitting for Chehalem’s needs following the 2026 harvest. Originally home to Pamplin Family Winery, founded by Robert “Bob” Pamplin Jr. and known for Bordeaux-style red wines, sourced from Washington fruit, the facility is expected to welcome Chehalem production in June 2027.
“Having our winery at Chehalem Estate brings the entire story together,” said Katie Santora, winemaker at Chehalem. “We’ve always been a vineyard-driven winery, and there is something incredibly special about making these wines alongside the vines and sharing them with guests just next door. It creates a deeper connection between the land, the wines and the people who experience them.”
