The heritage-inspired tasting space pairs sweeping Bay views with a new year-round way to experience the Santa Cruz Mountains estate
September 17, 2026 (Woodside, CA) — Thomas Fogarty Winery will mark its 45th anniversary and the opening of its new Redwood Room with a celebration on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Founding winemaker Michael Martella will join current winemaker and general manager Nathan Kandler and members of the Fogarty team at the Santa Cruz Mountains estate, bringing together the people who helped establish the winery and those guiding it today.
Dr. Thomas Fogarty founded the winery with Martella in 1981, pursuing the potential of a rugged mountainside property above the Bay. Chardonnay led its early production, and Pinot Noir became central to its identity. Across nearly 30 acres of organically farmed vines, the estate produces wines that show the differences among its mountain sites, including vineyard-designated Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Its broader lineup includes wines made from varieties such as Cabernet Franc and Nebbiolo, giving guests more ways to explore Fogarty’s approach to winemaking.
The Redwood Room marks a significant new chapter in the guest experience at Thomas Fogarty Winery. For the first time, visitors can enjoy an indoor tasting while taking in the estate’s sweeping Bay views, bringing the panorama into the tasting experience year-round. Original redwood, a cast-iron wood-burning stove, and handcrafted wine barrel tables lend the heritage-inspired space a distinctive character deeply rooted in the estate’s history.
“For 45 years, Thomas Fogarty Winery has been shaped by Dr. Thomas Fogarty’s vision and Michael Martella’s pioneering work to demonstrate what is possible in the Santa Cruz Mountains,” says Nathan Kandler, General Manager and Winegrower of Thomas Fogarty Winery. “Today, it is a privilege to steward the estate alongside the next generation of the Fogarty family, honoring that legacy while thoughtfully shaping its future. Moving our tasting room to the Redwood Room marks an exciting new chapter, offering guests a welcoming new way to enjoy our wines, our estate and the remarkable views that have always defined this place.”
The 45th Anniversary Celebration on October 3, 2026 invites guests to taste wines in the newly updated Redwood Room, enjoy freshly made pizza from Daniel’s Kitchen in the Pavilion, and spend time with Kandler, Martella, and the Fogarty team. Guests may purchase a favorite bottle or enjoy a glass of wine with friends while taking in the vineyard views. Event details and reservations are available on Tock.
