New Releases Continue Founder Matt Bonanno’s Two-Decade Mission to Make Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon More Approachable

September 9, 2026 (Napa, CA) — BonAnno Vintners will mark its 20th vintage with the September 14 release of two new Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons from Oakville and Stags Leap District, each with an SRP of $30. Founded by Matt Bonanno in 2004, the company launched its first Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with a simple goal: introduce a new generation of wine drinkers to the category.
Two decades later, the new Oakville and Stags Leap District releases continue that mission.
2024 BonAnno Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (2,000 cases; SRP: $30)
2024 BonAnno Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (1,500 cases; SRP: $30)
The Oakville offers bold black fruit, firm, dusty tannins, and depth, while the Stags Leap District combines bright red and dark fruit, floral aromatics, and silky, fine-grained tannins. Both reflect the BonAnno approach to winemaking: high-quality fruit, a light hand in the cellar, and a focus on freshness and balance.
The wines will be available across the company’s 31-market distribution network and at BonAnnoWine.com. The wines are being released exclusively from the 2024 vintage.
“When I started BonAnno, I wanted to give a new generation of wine drinkers an opportunity to discover Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Twenty vintages later, these new Oakville and Stags Leap District Cabernets carry that idea forward, inviting consumers to explore two of Napa Valley’s most celebrated appellations.”
In 2004, Bonanno produced its first 1,100 cases of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, priced at $18/bottle, with the vision of introducing Napa Valley Cabernets to younger consumers. Today, the new Oakville and Stags Leap District Cabernets join a broader BonAnno portfolio that includes Napa Valley and Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignons and Los Carneros Chardonnay. The company also produces the Matthew Fritz line, a collection of coastal California wines launched in 2009.
Founder Matt Bonanno says: “From the beginning, I’ve listened to distributors, restaurant buyers, and sommeliers. They’ve helped me understand what the market needs: distinctive, reliable, fairly priced wines. That feedback has influenced both the wines I make and the prices I set. I want sommeliers to be excited to recommend our wines and their guests to feel comfortable ordering them. More than 80 percent of our wines are sold through restaurants, so those relationships have shaped BonAnno from the very beginning.”
