Chambers & Chambers Wine Merchants Announces First Direct Import Partnerships from Iberia with Clos Figueras and Quinta do Crasto

June 8, 2026 (Napa, CA) — Chambers & Chambers Wine Merchants has added Clos Figueras (Priorat, Spain) and Quinta do Crasto (Douro Valley, Portugal) to its portfolio. These two estates mark an important milestone as the company’s first direct import partnerships from the Iberian Peninsula.

For Chambers & Chambers, this moment represents more than portfolio growth. It reflects a continued commitment to building long-term, meaningful relationships with producers that are committed to quality, sustainability and wines that carry a sense of place.

Two Estates with a Shared Philosophy

Clos Figueras is a small estate in Priorat, founded in 1997 by Christopher Cannan and located just north of Gratallops. The property sits on classic llicorella (schist) soils that define the region’s powerful, mineral-driven wines. Of its 18 hectares, 12 are planted to a mix of old-vine, indigenous Carignan and Grenache alongside smaller plantings of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, and Viognier. The remaining land is dotted with herbs, vegetables, and olive trees, all centered around the two fig trees that give the estate its name. The amphitheater-shaped vineyard is farmed organically and has been certified by the CCPAE since 2015.

Founder Christopher Cannan is widely regarded as one of the great connectors in the wine world and a long-time friend of Chambers & Chambers. Suzanne Chambers first connected with Christopher at the beginning of the Chambers story through his work at Fredrick Wildman & Sons, which Chambers sold in those days. Through Europvin, the Bordeaux-based export company he founded in the late 1970s after leaving Wildman, he built relationships with many of Europe’s most important estates before eventually turning his focus to winemaking. With the encouragement of longtime friend René Barbier of Clos Mogador, Cannan purchased the then-abandoned vineyard in Gratallops and began what would become Clos Figueras.

Now approaching its 30th anniversary, the estate has grown into one of Priorat’s most respected addresses, with a presence on leading wine lists across Spain and in more than 25 countries worldwide. Over the years, collaborators including Barbier and Rhône legend Alain Graillot have helped shape its evolution. Today, winemaking is led by Anne Cannan, Christopher’s daughter and the founder of Mujeres del Vino.

Quinta do Crasto, located along one of the most dramatic bends of the Douro River, is among Portugal’s most historic estates, with records dating back to 1615. The property has been in the Roquette family since 1918, originally operating as a Port house before evolving into one of the leading producers in the Douro for both dry and fortified wines.

Today, under the leadership of fourth-generation owner Miguel Roquette, Quinta do Crasto has become internationally recognized, exporting to more than 40 countries and earning acclaim for both its wines and its vineyard holdings. Its striking hillside vineyards and privileged riverfront position helped earn it recognition as one of the world’s great vineyard sites.

In recent years, the estate has also become a major destination for wine tourism, welcoming over 10,000 visitors annually from around the world. As interest in Portugal continues to grow, both as a travel destination and as a source of high-quality wines, Quinta do Crasto is uniquely positioned at the intersection of tradition, place, and modern momentum.
