
June 4, 2026 — The UC Organic Agriculture Institute and UC Cooperative Extension Sutter-Yuba will host a free field day on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) weed management strategies in row crops on Thursday, June 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Park Farming Organics in Meridian.
The event will focus on organic weed management approaches and bring together University of California researchers, UC Cooperative Extension farm advisors and growers for a morning of in-field learning. Host grower Brian Park will demonstrate equipment.
The field day will feature presentations from UC Cooperative Extension specialists and advisors on a wide range of topics, including weed management versus eradication, no-till straw management, broomrape biology and emerging control technologies, pre-plant weed management during alfalfa stand establishment, mechanical weed control in organic crops, organic herbicides and weed invasion pathways.
Speakers include Sarah Light, Whitney Brim-DeForest, Katharina Ullmann, Sarah Marsh Janish, Mandeep Singh, Giuliano Carneiro Galdi, Jorge Angeles and Sara Ohadi, representing UC Cooperative Extension across California and UC Riverside.
Attendees can earn continuing education credits, including two hours of California Department of Pesticide Regulation (Other) approved credit. One hour of IPM Certified Crop Adviser and one hour of Organic CCA credits have also been requested.
Admission is free. Coffee, drinks and snacks will be provided. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the program running from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
