Exclusive Journey Blends Hands-on Grape Stomping, Storied Winemaking, and Gourmet Dining through Napa Valley
June 1, 2026 (Napa, CA) — The Napa Valley Wine Train, a memorable experience that evokes the spirit of luxury rail travel, is pleased to announce tickets are now available for the return of the signature Grape Stomp at Grgich Hills, a quintessential harvest season experience. Ideal for groups from 10 to 30 guests, the stomping of the grapes at Grgich Hills Estate immerses guests in the winemaking process, using the age-old maceration method. Aboard the 2-hour journey, guests are treated to a multi-course gourmet lunch aboard the train and a festive tasting at Grgich Hills, featuring a selection of organic reserve wines. This year marks the third annual Grape Stomp experience at Grgich Hills Estate for the Napa Valley Wine Train.

Timed to the 50th anniversary of the Judgment of Paris, a defining moment that placed Napa Valley on the global wine stage, this years’ experience introduces a limited-time commemorative wine flight. During the picturesque Wine Train journey, guests will have the rare opportunity to taste selections inspired by the historic 1976 tasting, including wines connected to Grgich Hills Estate, where winemaker Mike Grgich helped shape one of Napa’s most celebrated victories.
“The Grape Stomp at Grgich Hills is an experience that guests look forward to each harvest season, and we are excited to welcome it back in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Judgment of Paris,” said Nathan Davis, general manager, Napa Valley Wine Train. “This years’ experience offers a unique opportunity to immerse guests in Napa Valley’s history firsthand, from the vineyard to the glass, while honoring the legacy that helped put the region on the world stage.”
Guests are welcomed aboard the Napa Valley Wine Train at 10:50 a.m., shortly before the locomotive’s whistle sounds, and the train begins to depart. An exquisite lunch is served, welcoming guests into a culinary journey before arriving at Grgich Hills Estate at 12:30 p.m., where a luxurious one-hour seated tasting tour of reserve wines and the iconic grape stomping experience awaits. Under the shade of old oak trees overlooking the vineyard and Mayacamas Mountains, the communal affair features six large wine barrels designed to support several enthusiastic stompers, making it the perfect activity for team building. After an hour, guests will return to the train to take part in dessert, coffee, and tea service on the ride back to the station where the journey will conclude at 2:30 p.m.
