San Jose winery earns top honors, including Best of Class and Best Port, at one of the wine industry’s most prestigious competitions
May 28, 2026 (San Jose, CA) — Alamitos Vineyards is proud to announce that three of its wines were recognized at the 2026 International Women’s Wine Competition, earning one Double Gold, two Gold medals, and two special distinctions — Best of Class and Best Port — for its 2020 Umunhum Touriga Porto.
The International Women’s Wine Competition, judged by an all-female panel of wine industry professionals, recognizes not only the highest-quality wines, but also those most likely to appeal to and influence women wine buyers and consumers. This year’s competition featured a record-breaking number of women winemakers, and judges awarded a total of seven Best of Show honors across all categories.

2024 Alamitos Vineyards Running Quail Pinot Noir (Monterey) — Gold, 92 points 2024 Alamitos Vineyards “Peru” Chardonnay (Monterey) — Gold, 91 points
The 2020 Umunhum Touriga Porto, named for the iconic Mount Umunhum that overlooks the Alamitos estate, exemplifies the winery’s commitment to crafting distinctive, terroir-driven wines. With a near-perfect score of 97 points and the prestigious Best Port designation, the wine stood out among an exceptionally competitive field.
This year’s recognition adds to a remarkable run for the boutique winery, bringing Alamitos Vineyards’ total to more than 30 awards earned since 2021. All three award-winning wines are available for tasting and purchase at the Alamitos Vineyards estate in San Jose, California.
