Adelaida District Estate partners with Jordan Lonborg of Coastal Vineyard Care to nurture its regenerative viticulture program
May 21, 2026 (Paso Robles, CA) — Alta Colina Vineyard & Winery has partnered with Coastal Vineyard Care Associates, strengthening the family-owned estate’s long-term commitment to regenerative farming in Paso Robles.

As part of this transition, Jordan Lonborg, Manager of Regenerative Viticulture at Coastal Vineyard Care, joins Alta Colina’s vineyard program to help guide and evolve its regenerative strategy. Building on the vision established by Founding Winemaker Bob Tillman in 2003, Lonborg will work in close alignment with the estate’s philosophy – advancing a shared commitment to soil health and site-driven wines.
“Alta Colina celebrates our unique slice of earth every day,” said Maggie Tillman, Owner and Director of Sales and Marketing. “This partnership marks the beginning of a long-term relationship with a future-focused team. Jordan’s involvement is a meaningful investment in the next chapter of our farming philosophy.”
From Lonborg’s perspective, “I am deeply honored to have been given the opportunity to assist in the stewardship of Bob’s passion project, Alta Colina, on behalf of Coastal Vineyard Care Associates alongside Ryan Domingos, and to work alongside Maggie, Lynn, and the rest of the Alta Colina team who have become great friends over the years. I am beyond excited for what lies ahead as we push the boundaries of regenerative viticulture in Paso Robles.”
Lonborg brings deep experience in regenerative viticulture, including his work with early certification efforts at Tablas Creek Vineyard. His approach aligns closely with Alta Colina’s long-standing focus on soil biology as the foundation of vineyard health.

Perched at 1,800 feet in the Adelaida District, Alta Colina’s steep, shale-rich vineyard is defined by intense sun exposure and dramatic terrain. The estate farms naturally and harvests by hand, embracing minimal-intervention winemaking to allow the vineyard to speak clearly from ground to glass.
Here, farming begins below the surface. The estate invests in building a living soil ecosystem -nurturing microbes like fungi and bacteria that unlock essential nutrients for the vines.
“Alta Colina’s soils are rich in organic matter, which fuels the microbiome and improves water retention – holding up to 16,000 to 18,000 gallons per acre,” said Bob Tillman. “That microbiome is the engine supplying mineral nutrition to our vines.”
Bob has been quietly pursuing this soil first mentality since 2019. Lonborg adds, “Bob’s approach unlocks the power of arguably one of the most elegant and perfect systems on the face of this planet: soil biology itself, available to any farmer willing to truly listen to the land. I consider him to be one of, if not the finest, regenerative farmers on the Central Coast.”
With more than 41,000 vines rooted in ancient, mineral-rich soils, the estate focuses on making nutrients available naturally through regenerative practices rather than external inputs. Lonborg and the Coastal team will help guide this next phase, refining Alta Colina’s low-intervention approach while building on its existing strengths.
For winemaker Dallas Parnigoni, the results are clear in the glass.
“The fruit from the Alta Colina vineyard is packed with varietal character, and dense in polyphenols, color, and tannin. This is not only due to the site of the vineyard but is largely an outcome of our farming practices. These qualities allow us to produce compelling wines through minimal intervention winemaking – that is to say that everything we need to make great wine is already in the grapes.”
This philosophy extends from vineyard to cellar. Rather than imposing a style, the team works to reveal what already exists within each vintage.
“Every year, the vineyard gives us the raw materials,” said Maggie Tillman. “Our role is not to force the wine into shape, but to uncover what it already wants to be.”
This partnership with Coastal Vineyard Care marks a continued investment in the land itself -reinforcing Alta Colina’s belief that great wine begins with healthy soil. The result is a collection of Rhône-style wines that reflect both place and process: expressive, site-driven, and rooted in regenerative stewardship.
