Willamette Valley Estate Debuts Redesigned Space Under New Ownership of Longtime Fans
May 20, 2026 (Monroe, OR) — Bluebird Hill Cellars, the boutique Pinot Noir and Chardonnay estate perched at 600 feet in the coastal foothills of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, will reopen its tasting room to the public on June 6th following an extensive renovation. The project marks the first major update to the property since new ownership acquired the winery from founders Neil and Sue Shay in 2025.

The redesigned tasting room reflects both a respect for what Neil and Sue built over more than a decade and a clear vision for what comes next. The interior features natural stone, warm wood, and a material palette chosen to feel grounded and connected to the land. The exterior has been updated with dark modern siding and clean glass elements that frame the vineyard views the property is known for.
A new bar with full seating gives guests a place to settle in with a flight rather than stand and move on, while an electric fireplace anchors the space for year-round visits, and the addition of a dedicated restroom — a practical but meaningful upgrade — signals the continued focus on hospitality that has always been at the heart of the winery. The estate is gearing up for a busy event season this summer, with the renovated tasting room taking center stage as the focal point for gatherings of chefs, artists, and other local artisans who will showcase their wares during the course of the busy season.
“When we took over Bluebird Hill, we knew we were stepping into something special,” said co-owner Kevin Zhang. “This renovation is about giving the inside a space that complements the view and matches the quality of the wines and the warmth of the community that Neil and Sue cultivated here.”
Bluebird Hill produces small-lot, handcrafted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from three acres of high-density estate vines, with the 2022 Flagship Pinot Noir earning Best of Class Red and a Double Gold/96 Points at the Great Northwest Wine Invitational.
