Celebrating 20 years of drinks education in the Pacific Northwest

May 7, 2026 — After 20 years as a leading provider of wine and drinks education in the Pacific Northwest, The Wine & Spirit Archive is proud to announce its next chapter as Wine and Drinks Academy.
The new name reflects the evolution of the school’s mission: offering structured, engaging training for both enthusiasts and beverage professionals across wine, spirits, beer, and sake.
Wine and Drinks Academy will continue offering internationally recognized certification programs including WSET courses through Diploma level, Wine Scholar Guild programs, Champagne Specialist Certification, and Tasting Room Training Certification. Students new to wine can also begin with the Academy’s approachable Introduction to Wine Series.
Courses are offered in Portland, Seattle, and throughout the Pacific Northwest, as well as online, helping students build confidence, deepen knowledge, and advance careers in the wine and hospitality industries.
“Wine and Drinks Academy feels like a natural next step for us,” said founder Mimi Martin. “Over the last 20 years, we’ve built an incredible community of students who are passionate about learning. Whether someone is taking their very first class or pursuing advanced certification, we want our courses to feel engaging, supportive, and inspiring.”
While the name is changing, the mission remains the same: creating thoughtful, high-quality drinks education that brings people together through learning.
