Legendary Alsace Winemaker, Industry Leader, and Patriarch of Maison Trimbach
February 3, 2026 (Port Washington, NY) — The Palm Bay International (PBI) family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Pierre Trimbach, the esteemed winemaker and patriarch of Maison Trimbach—one of Alsace’s most iconic and respected family-owned wine estates.
A 12th-generation winemaker, Pierre led winemaking at the family estate from 1979 onward, helping elevate it to international acclaim. His unwavering commitment to precision, balance, and terroir-driven expression has shaped the unmistakable Trimbach style, now widely regarded as a benchmark for Alsace wines.
Pierre’s contributions to the wine world were recognized globally. In 2006, Decanter Magazine named him one of the world’s Top Ten White Winemakers, and in 2016, he was honored as Wine Personality of the Year by Bettane & Desseauve. Beyond the family estate, Pierre played a vital role in the stewardship of Alsace’s wine heritage, serving as President of the Vendanges Tardives and Sélection de Grains Nobles Committee since 2000.
