Gold Stars Awarded Across the World in the Star Wine List of the Year International Open 2026

February 2, 2026 (Stockholm, Sweden) — Star Wine List is the digital guide to the world’s best wine bars and restaurants, and the Star Wine List of the Year awards celebrate the work of sommelier teams across the globe in creating the top wine lists. While this season’s physical tour will see awards ceremonies hosted in 14 individual territories, the International Open is a virtual competition incorporating all other regions of the globe. Winners have now been revealed out of the 129 finalists previously announced. Gold, Silver and Bronze Stars have been apportioned by continent.

An expert jury panel including Master Sommeliers Stefan Neumann and Jonathan Gouveia, and four-time Best Sommelier of Ireland Julie Dupouy-Young, has chosen its winners in the Star Wine List of the Year International Open 2026. Wine lists, separated into five continental groupings, were judged in 10 categories, with Gold Stars awarded to the winners of each category, in each continent. Runners-up receive Silver Stars and, new for this year, a set of Bronze Star accreditations have been announced in the core categories of Best Long List, Best Medium-Sized List and Best Short List.

“It’s amazing to see such commitment to crafting these diverse and beautiful wine lists throughout the world,” says Jonathan Gouveia MS. “This year’s winners provide a great picture of how the wine world is full of surprises, introducing you to countries and regions you might not think you’d encounter. Even in the far reaches of the world, there is a dedication to sourcing high quality bottles.”

All Gold Star winners will now be entered into the Star Wine List of the Year Global Final, to compete against the regional winners from this tour’s other competitions. This hotly anticipated contest will take place in June 2026, concluding an awards season that began in September 2025; the location is yet to be revealed.
