January 19, 2026 (Stockholm, Sweden) — Star Wine List is the digital guide to the world’s best wine bars and restaurants, and the Star Wine List of the Year awards tour celebrates the work of sommelier teams across the globe in creating the top wine lists. 129 finalists have just been announced in the 2026 International Open, spanning 75 locations across all continents. Winners will be revealed in February.
The Star Wine List of the Year tour runs from September to June each year. During the 2025/’26 season, awards events are being held in 14 territories but, in order to cover the entire globe, the International Open competition invites entries from any and all locations that fall outside the tour’s stops.
Wine lists have been assessed in 10 categories by an esteemed judging panel including Master Sommeliers Stefan Neumann and Jonathan Gouveia, and four-time Best Sommelier of Ireland Julie Dupouy-Young. This jury has now announced its finalists, who are separated into continental groupings. Winners in each category, in each continent, will receive a Gold Star, with Silver Stars for the runners-up. For the first time Star Wine List will also announce Bronze Stars – a new accreditation acknowledging wine lists of a solid quality despite not making it onto the shortlist. The winners will be announced online, on 2 February 2026.
Since all categories in the Open are classified as “international,” all Gold Star winners in this contest will automatically be entered into the Star Wine List of the Year International Final 2026 – this is the much-anticipated culmination of the awards season, in which all regional winners vie for Gold Stars against their global colleagues. The International Final is attended in person by many of the sommelier teams; the location of this year’s final has not yet been disclosed.

About Star Wine List
Star Wine List is the international wine lovers’ guide to great wine bars and restaurants. Available as an app and at starwinelist.com, it was launched in Stockholm, Sweden in 2017, and is now live in more than 45 countries. All venues are selected by top wine professionals for the quality of their wine programmes.
The Star Wine List of the Year competition celebrates the wonderful wine lists of the world and the dedicated sommelier teams who create them. Since its inception in 2018, this global tour has evolved to cover numerous territories. Its highly anticipated awards events recognise excellence in the wine and hospitality industries, and culminate in an International Final each summer.
