Award-Winning Wine Producer Releases Limited Edition Commemorative Monastrell

January 12, 2026 (Jumilla, Spain) — Gil Family Estates, a name synonymous with Spanish viticulture and the producers behind the iconic “Juan Gil” wines, is proud to announce a year-long celebration of their 110th anniversary in 2026. This significant milestone honors a rich legacy that began with the founding of Bodegas Juan Gil in Jumilla in 1916 by Juan Gil Jimenez and, whose son, Juan Gil Guerrero, was the first to bottle a namesake wine.
To mark this momentous occasion, the family is releasing a special, one-time commemorative wine: Hijos de Juan Gil Guerrero (Sons of Juan Gil Guerrero) $21.99 SRP/750ml.
This exceptional wine is a tribute to the family’s deep heritage and their enduring respect for the land. It is crafted from 100% estate-grown, organic Monastrell, an indigenous Spanish varietal that thrives in the high-altitude vineyards surrounding the flagship winery. The wine embodies the family’s commitment to sustainable practices, showcasing the unique character of the region through dry-farmed vines and a philosophy that champions environmental stewardship.
“My family is excited to share our continued tradition of winemaking with the world,” says Francisco Gil, 5th generation family member-owner. “Our native Monastrell is a testament to the land, ancestors, and the knowledge gained over five generations. We are thrilled to share this special wine and invite everyone to join our celebration.”
Throughout 2026, Gil Family Estates will host a series of special events across the United States. Both consumer and trade-driven gatherings are being planned to share this unique wine and toast to the family’s remarkable legacy.
“Our 110th-anniversary events are a celebration for the trade and consumers who have supported us for decades in addition to those new to the table,” said Philip Tardy, EVP U.S. “This special bottling represents the pinnacle of century-long expertise with native varieties like Monastrell, blending traditional knowledge with modern, sustainable winemaking practices. It is a rare opportunity for our trade partners to offer a piece of Spanish wine history.”
“Gil Family Estates has been making wine for 110 years and we wanted to celebrate this milestone by releasing a delicious wine at great value that everyone can enjoy,” says Jordi Flos, Managing Partner, Gil Family Estates. “I’m proud of how much the company has grown while retaining the original family values and respect for the land.”
