November 20, 2025 (Burgundy, France) — The 165th Hospices de Beaune Wine Auction was held on Sunday, November 16th, 2025, at the Halles de Beaune and online under the hammer of Sotheby’s. This emblematic event once again brought together buyers, collectors, and wine lovers from all over the world to support the hospital institution and its wine estate.

A Committed and Solidarity-Driven Edition
The Charity Barrel, known as the Presidents’ Barrel, a Pommard Premier Cru Les Rugiens, was sold for €400,000. The total amount will be donated to the EHCO association and the Robert Debré Children’s Brain Institute, in connection with this year’s highlighted cause: disability and technological innovation. This theme reflects the ongoing commitment of the Hospices de Beaune to humanistic and societal causes, aligned with their social and environmental responsibility approach.
A Sale Confirming the Strong Attachment to the Beaune Institution
The 2025 edition raised a total of €18,327,000 for 539 barrels auctioned. The average price per barrel reached €34,002, representing an increase of 7.44% compared to 2024. Despite a challenging economic context, the sale once again reflects the vitality of the Bourgogne fine wine market and the renewed trust in the Hospice estate.
“This 2025 edition illustrates the ability of the Hospices to bring together the wine community around a noble cause. The 2025 vintage wines stand out for their balance and energy. They perfectly reflect the rigor and passion applied in vineyard and cellar,” adds Albéric Bichot.
Albert Bichot, Leading Historical Buyer of the Hospices de Beaune
Present since 1876, Maison Albert Bichot has maintained an unbreakable bond with the Hospices de Beaune, built on transmission and respect for the terroir. Once again, Albert Bichot stands out as the leading buyer of the auction, with 85.5 barrels purchased for a total amount of €4,516,500, including 22 barrels of Grand Cru, representing 25% of the sale’s total value and 16% of the total volume.
“We are proud to carry on this tradition and through our purchases, help preserve a winegrowing and hospital heritage that is unique in the world,” says Albéric Bichot. “We were fortunate to acquire several emblematic barrels, including a Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Cuvée des Dames de Flandres, purchased for a record amount of €400,000. The wines from the auction will now join our cellars to be matured with the utmost care.”
A Shared Vision of Organic Viticulture
