Kosten Winery: The Southernmost Winery in the World

October 14, 2025 (Fort Worth, TX) — Vino del Sol is proud to announce the newest wine to join their portfolio, Kosten, from Wine Star Award Winner, New World Winery of the Year, Ventisquero Wine Estates. Kosten has the only vineyards located in the heart of Chilean Patagonia in Chile Chico.  Planted in 2018 and located at Parallel 46.3, Kosten is the southernmost vineyard in the world. Taking its name from the native word for wind, Kosten is a daring project where the winds are constant, the microclimate unique and the terroir unconventional. Hoarcio Fuentes, Export Director, North America for Ventisquero Wine Estates notes, “Kosten is a perfect example of extreme viticulture”.  The wines, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, define the art of being hand-crafted. They are not only manually harvested but are foot trodden as well. Rare and exclusive with only 600 bottles a year produced, Kosten wines are known for their unique characteristics defined by balanced acidity, elevated freshness and impressive density of taste associated with cold-climate wines. Matt Hedges, President and Co-Founder of Vino del Sol adds, “We are thrilled to add Kosten to our portfolio of unique, family-owned, estate grown, sustainable wines from South America.”

Vino del Sol was founded in 2004, and is led by Matt Hedges, Alejandro Darago, and Kevin Millman.
