Pet-friendly event supports Great Lakes Humane Society

Dogs & Donuts
While Shady Lane Cellars is best known for handcrafting award-winning and sustainable Michigan wines, it’s no secret the estate winery is among the most dog-friendly spots to visit.

“We are a very dog-friendly place,” said Angela Basford, event coordinator at Shady Lane Cellars. “Just about every staff member here has a dog, has had a dog or is just a big fan of dogs.”
For the second year, the team will host its Dogs & Donuts event. The afternoon features wine, live music, sweet treats and plenty of four-legged friends.
“This event highlights our love of our four-legged friends and allows us to contribute to animals in need,” said Basford. “Last year, there were dogs everywhere! It was a great day.”
Expect an incredible a high-energy, family-friendly show from Classic K9, featuring stunt dogs, dancing dogs, even frisbee dogs. The show runs 2-2:30 p.m. with photos and dog meet & greet opportunities to follow. Aggie’s Treats and the Great Lakes Humane Society will be on site for Dogs & Donuts.
PET OWNERS
Those who bring a friendly dog along to the tasting room must keep their pet on a leash throughout the event. They will receive a $5 glass pour and a fresh-baked donut boat from Suttons Bay-based Chimoski Bakery for doing so.
Additional donut boats–plain, cinnamon sugar or pumpkin–will also be available for purchase. A portion of the day’s bottle sales will go directly to the Great Lakes Humane Society.
