First Place and People’s Choice accolades highlight eco-friendly Frugal Bottle design
September 12, 2025 (Monterey County, CA) — Scheid Family Wines is proud to announce that one of its latest private label brands, Nature’s Grace Cabernet Sauvignon, has been awarded both First Place and the People’s Choice Award in the 2025 Wine Business Monthly Pack Design Awards in the Alternative/Non-Glass Category. This recognition highlights the brand’s standout packaging, crafted using the sustainable Frugal Bottle and designed under the leadership of Scheid’s Marketing team.

Nature’s Grace is bottled in a Frugal Bottle that is 84% recyclable, with a carbon footprint that is just 16% of a typical glass bottle and up to six times lower than a traditional glass bottle. In creating the Nature’s Grace package, the design team, led by Scheid Family Wines Brand Manager Kristina Peterson, in collaboration with designers James Eli and Lori Rosales, created a look that balances elegance with sustainability.
The Nature’s Grace wine brand is the result of a collaboration between Scheid (who created the package and produces the wine), Monterey Wine Company (who fills the paper bottles), and Latitude Wines (who works with retailers to build custom beverage alcohol brands). Based in
King City, California, Monterey Wine Company operates its own Frugal Bottle assembly machine, capable of producing 2.5 million eco-friendly bottles annually. Sourcing both the wine and bottle-filling capabilities in Monterey County furthers the project’s commitment to sustainability.
“Our goal was to show that sustainable packaging can be beautiful, modern, and resonate with today’s wine drinkers,” said Kristina Peterson, Brand Manager of Scheid Family Wines. “Winning both First Place and People’s Choice affirms that great design and sustainability can truly go hand in hand.”
“Nature’s Grace is a result of a tremendous partnership between Scheid Family Wines, 7-Eleven and Latitude Wines, along with Monterey Wine Co. in helping produce this innovative bottle. A true team effort,” stated Graham Nordin, Vice President of Business Development and Sales for Latitude Wines. “We’re so proud that this sustainably-focused package and thoughtfully crafted wines have resonated with both the trade and consumers; proving that great wines in a better- for-the-planet package can be a winning combination.”
One judge from Wine Business Monthly noted, “This is well done on a package type that is at times hard to make look classy. Love the sustainability angle.”
Nature’s Grace Cabernet Sauvignon is available at select 7-Eleven stores, making sustainable wine and packaging accessible to more consumers than ever before.
