A bold fusion of classic winemaking and seasonal flair engages the next wave of adventurous wine drinkers
August 25, 2025 (Monterey, CA) — As the wine landscape evolves, Scheid Family Wines is proving that fresh ideas can spark new excitement. After selling out in its debut year and going viral on social media, the winery is bringing back Pumpkin Spice Chardonnay with key retail partners across the country.

While pumpkin spice has taken over coffee cups, snack aisles and dessert menus, wine has largely stayed on the sidelines until now. This limited-edition blend pairs classic coastal Chardonnay with warm pumpkin spice flavors, taking advantage of an engaging fall trend and showing how innovation can open the door to new audiences.
The unlikely journey began when Scheid’s winemaking team decided, just for fun, to ferment Chardonnay inside a giant pumpkin. The result was not exactly ready for bottling, but it sparked a series of flavor trials that led to a surprising discovery: pumpkin spice and Chardonnay were a match worth sharing. When the wine debuted last year, it quickly sold out and lit up social media feeds as people posted photos, videos and first-taste reactions, creating an energy that surprised even the Scheid team.
“Pumpkin Spice Chardonnay is not your traditional wine and that is exactly the point,” said Heidi Scheid, Executive Vice President. “It reflects our mission to bring people together to enjoy and savor life by creating wines that spark conversation, curiosity and connection in an approachable way.”
“The wine world has plenty of rules and traditions but this product throws the rulebook out the window,” said Ryan Sigala, Brand Manager. “We didn’t expect such a robust response last year. Seeing people try the wine, post about it and share their reactions was a lot of fun. Seasonal flavors give people permission to try something unique and share in the excitement of the changing seasons. Pumpkin Spice Chardonnay is a great way to get people talking about wine and exploring more of the category.”
Pumpkin Spice Chardonnay returns this fall to Total Wine & More, Trader Joe’s and Festival Foods — but only while supplies last.
