In France, the Lafage family harvests its first low-alcohol grapes on Tuesday, August 5
August 5, 2025 (Roussillon, France) — First harvests in France start with Domaine Lafage. After three vintages marked by extreme drought, 2025 marks a much-anticipated return to normal in Roussillon. More regular and moderate rainfall has helped preserve the balance of the vines and promises a beautiful, healthy, and high-quality harvest.

Among the very first to start harvesting each year, Domaine Lafage plans to make the first cuts with their pruning shears on Tuesday, August 5. The Muscat Petits Grains grapes, picked at just the right moment of ripeness in these plots planted on the Mediterranean coast, will be used to make their famous sparkling white wine « Lafabuleuse » which has a moderate alcohol content of 9%, quite an achievement in this region.
Pioneers in regenerative viticulture, the Lafage family (members of International Wineries for Climate Action) has been implementing experimental solutions for several years to strengthen the resilience of their vines to climate change and to encourage biodiversity in their micro-terroirs: water cultivation, soil regeneration through compost and biochar amendments, agroforestry, and more.
