Castle Rock Winery’s 2024 Rosé of Pinot Noir Garners Acclaim from James Suckling and Sunset International Wine Competition

July 25, 2025 (Rolling Hills, CA) — Castle Rock Winery is proud to announce that its 2024 Rosé of Pinot Noir (Monterey County) has received a 90-point rating from world-renowned wine critic James Suckling, reinforcing its reputation as one of the best values in premium California rosé.

This recognition follows closely on the heels of another major honor: a Gold Medal and 92 points at the 2025 Sunset International Wine Competition. Sunset, one of the most influential voices in Western lifestyle and wine, praised the Rosé for its vibrant expression and quality, awarding it top-tier status in a highly competitive field judged by leading sommeliers and Masters of Wine.

“Our 2024 Rosé of Pinot Noir represents the heart of what Castle Rock stands for—exceptional quality at an affordable price,” said Greg Popovich, Founder of Castle Rock Winery. “To receive this level of recognition from both James Suckling and Sunset is a testament to the work of our winemaking team and growers in Monterey County.”

Winemaker Meghan Daniels commented: “This Rosé was crafted with a light touch to preserve the beautiful aromatics and bright fruit character of Monterey Pinot Noir. It’s crisp, vibrant, and refreshing—a style we love and are proud to share.”

In addition to the Rosé’s recent accolades, South Bay Wine Group’s newest brand, Kosmic Kitty Wines, has made a dazzling debut with four wines earning “Best Buy” distinctions from Wine Enthusiast. These include Kosmic Kitty’s Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon—each praised for delivering high-quality, approachable wines at an unbeatable $12 retail price point.
