Celebrated Wine Label’s Production and Visitor Experience Opens in Prime Location Along Napa’s Highway 29
July 22, 2025 (Napa Valley, CA) – Brion Wise, proprietor of BRION, B. Wise Vineyards, and Mark Herold Wines, today announced that Mark Herold Wines is open to visitors in Wise’s recently acquired building at 7415 St. Helena Hwy in the heart of Oakville, formerly home to Cosentino Winery. The newly reimagined space is also offering tasting experiences from Wise’s Sonoma-based B. Wise Vineyards label.

Mark Herold, one of California’s most respected winemakers and consultants, sold his namesake project to Wise in May 2023 but stayed on as winemaker, and remains principal of operations at the winery. Herold has been consulting for Wise’s B. Wise Vineyards and BRION labels for over 14 years and hoped to further growth opportunities for Mark Herold Wines under Wise’s management. This move, from the label’s former downtown Napa tasting room into a permanent Oakville winery location along the well-trafficked Highway 29, signals the next step in the brand’s evolution amid the opportunities Wise has secured for it.
The new property was acquired by Wise in August 2024, advancing the prolific wine country investor’s commitment to Napa Valley and the preservation of its signature estates.
“After welcoming Mark Herold Wines to our collection of vineyards and wineries last year, I’m so happy we have been able to relocate the label’s operations into such an idyllic location in the heart of Napa Valley,” said Wise. “I’m excited for all the potential of this new location and look forward to overseeing the next chapter of Mark Herold Wines at this landmark property. The team is thrilled to now host guests on the expansive outdoor patio, guide them through the new production facility, and unravel the art of winemaking from grape to bottle.”
At Mark Herold Wines, Wise and his team offer a diverse array of tasting experiences, including everything from the winery’s cult-collector Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon, Mastodon ($750 per bottle), to Uproar, a more approachable Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($75 per bottle). Guests have the option to indulge in a private tasting of exclusive Cabernet Sauvignon from the Mark Herold portfolio.
B. Wise tastings will also be on offer in the same space, showcasing Wise’s single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from his Moon Mountain estate in Sonoma, as well as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from prestige Sonoma County vineyards like Nobles Vineyard in Fort Ross-Seaview and Lucky Well Vineyard in Russian River Valley. More limited estate grown wines on offer at the new space may include Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Tannat, providing Napa Valley visitors a unique opportunity to sample a taste of Sonoma Valley without leaving Oakville.
Ronda West Wise, Brion Wise’s wife, is the talented designer behind the stylish, whimsically appointed interiors at BRION and B. Wise Vineyards. She also designed the new Mark Herold Wines’ interiors, accenting the space with art and furnishings she has sourced from her travels around the world while keeping the label’s aesthetic spirit intact.
For decades, Wise has been a pioneering investor in Sonoma County and Napa Valley vineyards, wineries, distilleries, and hospitality properties including B. Wise Vineyards, Amapola Creek Winery, BRION, and Mark Herold Wines. Wise made headlines in 2023 when he acquired the 128-acre Pritchard Hill estate that will serve as the future home to his BRION label.
Wise’s belief that winemakers’ individual artistic style is essential to the terroir story of every vineyard means that his wineries are known to tap some of the top winemakers and viticulturists for the various vineyards in Wise’s portfolio – often using separate consultants for different vineyards within the same label.
Wise’s other investments include wine country vineyard holdings spanning Sonoma County from his Moon Mountain District home base (where he also lives) to Fort Ross-Seaview District. In Napa Valley, his investments and partnerships include BRION Estate on Pritchard Hill, BRION at Sleeping Lady Vineyard in Yountville, the Upper Range vineyards between Rutherford and Pritchard Hill, Wise Caldwell Distillers (focusing on Constable Whiskey), and Caldwell Vineyard in Coombsville among others. Wise recently introduced Grand Cru Champagnes under the Brion Wise brand, and also invests in talented winemakers, providing them with the tools they need to craft exceptional, site-expressive wines.
Located at 7415 St. Helena Hwy, Napa, CA 94558, Mark Herold Wines is open daily from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Walk-in visitors are welcome though appointments are recommended – especially for a more curated tasting experience. Call 707-256-3111 for reservations.
