Shady Lane Cellars Blends Two Perfect Pastimes – Running and Wine Tasting – for 5K Race

Runners lace up for Shady Lane Cellars Wine Run Aug. 10

July 9, 2025 — The team at Shady Lane Cellars may be known for handcrafting award-winning and sustainable Michigan wines at the estate winery. When they’re not working in the vineyard, winery or tasting room, you’ll find them making the most of the outdoors on the picturesque Leelanau Peninsula.

This summer, it’s possible to enjoy the best of both worlds during the first Shady Lane Cellars Wine Run 5K, set for Sunday Aug. 10, 2025 in Suttons Bay.

“Several of our staff members participate in locally promoted races so it was a natural fit both from an employee standpoint, property capacity standpoint – and tying award-winning wine with a fun outdoor run!” said Angela Turner, events coordinator.

WALK, RUN, SIP

All are welcome to join the festivities for this inaugural event. The timed 5K winds through the vineyard in multiple loops. It is open to those who plan to walk or run the course as well as volunteers. All participants receive a race tee shirt, collapsible wine glass, wine glass-shaped medal and chip-timed race bib. A wine pour is included for each race at the finish line.
