NAPA VALLEY, CA [April 29, 2025] — Today Scout announced the release of Scout Gen 5, a major advancement in vineyard precision management that delivers expanded insights to drive vineyard performance, yield, and health. Designed for the business realities of the 2025 growing season, Gen 5 introduces new capabilities that help growers navigate tighter margins, seasonal uncertainty, and increasing demands for operational efficiency.

Scout 5 introduces powerful new capabilities, including:
- Predictive yield forecasting at the vine level using high-resolution AI models that incorporate cluster counts, site-specific historical yields, and weather patterns.
- Mobile-first field tools, now multilingual and offline-ready for field operations.
- Create virus defence zones and pick zones to guide targeted interventions and improve quality, track yield.
- Enhanced virus risk visualization to detect threat patterns early and strengthen vineyard health.
Unlocking yield forecasting at scale has long been an industry-wide challenge. Scout Gen 5 addresses this gap head-on with the launch of its new Fruit & Yield Performance module. Scout maps, measures, and analyzes vine-by-vine fruit load and cluster quality, delivering the industry’s most advanced, vine-level yield estimates and quality metrics. Scout’s approach goes beyond basic cluster counting by integrating decades of viticulture research and historical yield and weather data into AI models that are trained in some of the top vineyards in Napa Valley and Sonoma.
“Accurate yield forecasting has long been one of the most persistent challenges for grape growers,” said Mason Earles, co-founder and CTO of Scout. “Scout Gen 5 uses AI and predictive analytics to reduce uncertainty, strengthen profitability, and protect the long-term sustainability of vineyards.”
Growers can now access these insights both in the vineyard and in the winery, enabling critical data-driven decisions throughout the season. Field teams benefit from new Mobile Field Notes, a mobile-first tool designed for real-time, geotagged data capture. The platform’s offline functionality supports vineyards with limited cellular access, while new Spanish-language support expands accessibility for diverse workforces operating across the vineyard.
In addition to enhanced field usability, Scout Gen 5 introduces zone-based performance views and new data visualization tools. Growers can now classify vines by canopy type, vigor, and
health indicators using high-resolution AI models, and introduce zones and tags to segment and monitor vineyard performance with precision. These features offer visual tools to identify underperforming areas early and tailor interventions for maximum profitability and quality.
Virus detection and risk tracking have also been elevated to a core component of Scout’s intelligence suite. With Gen 5, growers can visualize virus impact over time, monitor spatial risk distribution, and link health insights directly to operational action plans.
Additional platform enhancements include expanded support for data collection through integration with Monarch Tractor’s electric fleet, enabling automated data capture during routine vineyard tasks. Scout’s AI models have been expanded to support a broader range of wine grape varieties, with continuous improvements in data organization, canopy classification, vigor analysis, and health monitoring.
Scout Gen 5’s capabilities, including Fruit & Yield Performance, Mobile Field Notes, and Health and Virus Mapping, are currently available to selected customers in limited availability. Full general availability is planned for June 2025.
