Simon Family Estate Announces the Acquisition of Collinetta Vineyard in Coombsville AVA

This acquisition is a milestone in the long-term strategy of owner and visionary Sam Simon to establish a family legacy of sustainability and excellence in Napa Valley and beyond.

Napa Valley, CA – January 28, 2025 – Simon Family Estate, a boutique, family-owned winery celebrated for its commitment to crafting world-class wines from Napa Valley’s most sought-after vineyards, has announced the acquisition of the historic Collinetta Vineyard, located in the prestigious Coombsville AVA. This marks the brand’s first vineyard purchase and a major milestone in the estate’s long-term vision.

“Establishing an estate vineyard is just one of my family’s long-term commitments to being multi-generational Vintners in the Napa Valley,” commented Mr. Simon. “Ever since my first visit to Napa Valley several decades ago, I have felt drawn to the history of hard work, dedication, and the tenacity of the American dream that thrives here. Collinetta is the first of many world-class vineyards that we aim to steward and to serve with humility while fostering my family’s chapter in the history of this incredible place.”

This acquisition follows closely on the heels of securing the top-grossing lot at Premiere Napa Valley 2025, opening a tasting salon in downtown Napa managed by Advanced Sommelier Paul Coker, and the hiring of Master of Wine Vanessa Conlin as Director of Growth and Partnerships.

Since the inaugural vintage of 2019, Simon Family Estate has sourced exceptional fruit from renowned vineyards such as Tench, Beckstoffer Georges III, Vine Hill Ranch, and Sleeping Lady, producing wines that reflect the pinnacle of Napa Valley terroir. Under the ownership of Sam and Nada, the commitment to the land will receive the highest level of attention, to further enhance the Collinetta Vineyard’s reputation as one of Coombsville’s premier sites.

Simon Family Estate’s Winemaker Maayan Koschitzky, who has been working with this property for a decade, collaborated with the Simon’s to acquire the vineyard and will oversee farming. “This site has been the ‘secret weapon’ behind some of the highest-regarded wines from Napa Valley,” said Koschitzy. “Notably, 30% of the fruit used in Simon Family Estate’s 2021 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon—awarded 100 points by Decanter—was sourced from Collinetta Vineyard.”

Situated on a scenic knoll with 360-degree exposures overlooking the Coombsville “caldera”, Collinetta Vineyard boasts a unique microclimate ideal for premium wine production. Farmed organically since its inception and certified by CCOF, the vineyard has been a cornerstone of sustainability and exceptional farming practices in the region. “We are honored to continue a 20+ year legacy of excellence in quality and farming practices consistent with our values of sustainability and responsible stewardship of the land,” said Kit Gilbert, President of Simon Family Estate.
