For over 25 years, this beloved event has brought together Amador County’s premier wineries and wine lovers for an unforgettable weekend of wine education, exploration, and exclusive tastings.

Have you ever dreamed of becoming a winemaker? Behind the Cellar Door is the perfect experience for both wine enthusiasts and novices, offering a weekend filled with exceptional Amador wines, delectable small bites, barrel samples, rare vintages, and hands-on wine education—all set against the stunning backdrop of Amador Wine Country.
This year’s event is centered around The Art of Winemaking, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the region’s rich winemaking traditions. From strolling through Sierra Foothill vineyards and meeting winemakers to sampling unique varietals, Behind the Cellar Door offers a deep dive into why Amador Wine Country is celebrated as one of California’s premier wine destinations.
The event follows a two-day, reservation-only format, allowing participants to explore the six sub-zones of Amador Wine Country—Amador City, Drytown, Fiddletown, Shenandoah, Sutter Creek, and Ione. Attendees may select up to five winery experiences per day from a lineup of over 35 participating wineries. A limited number of single-day and designated driver passes are also available.
