WMC Announces Member Webinar on 2025 Wine Market and the Popularity of NoLo Wines

Dec. 30, 2024 – What are the opportunities to sell wine in 2025?  With the year starting with “Dry January,” there is a possibility to reframe this as “Joy January.” This is because there are positive and inclusive ways to communicate with consumers during this first month of the year and the eleven following months.

With this in mind, Wine Market Council announces a 75-minute webinar for members and media to kick off the new year.  Entitled, “Wine Market Update, NoLo Wines & Customer Communication During ‘Dry/Joy’ January, it is scheduled for Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 10am to 11:15am, PST.

The webinar will begin with a wine market update presented by Kaleigh Theriault, Beverage Alcohol Thought Leader with NielsenIQ.  She will provide an overview of wine sales during 2024, share some interesting data on wine categories that are doing well, such as non-alcoholic wines, and provide a sneak peek on what will drive wine sales in 2025.

This will be followed by a combined presentation on the definition of ‘nolo’ (no and low alcohol) wine and statistics on the percentage, demographics, and motivations of consumers embracing the ‘nolo’ trend.  Christine Mahaffy, Manager of Insights with RNDC, and Christian Miller, Research Director for Wine Market Council will present this section jointly.

After a brief Q&A break, the webinar will resume with suggestions on how to communicate with consumers during ‘dry’ January, with a focus on opportunities for wine to bring ‘joy’ into their lives.  This portion will be led by Christine Mahaffy, Manager of Insights with RNDC.

Finally, it will wrap up with a fascinating presentation by Chris Becker, Founder of Better Rhodes. Established in 2019, Better Rhodes is a leader in making high-quality, great-tasting alcohol-free beverages easily accessible to consumers. Chris will share his story and provide some useful suggestions on how wine businesses can effectively engage with consumers around the growing ‘nolo’ trend.

The complete webinar will be moderated by Dr. Liz Thach, MW, President of Wine Market Council.
