Flâneur Wines Announces New Director of Winemaking, Anthony Sereni

CARLTON, Ore., June 3, 2024 – Flâneur Wines, celebrated for their terroir-driven Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sparkling wines, Pinot Meunier, Aligoté, and Grüner Veltliner, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Anthony Sereni as the new Director of Winemaking.

Sereni joined Flâneur Wines as Assistant Winemaker in February 2022, with a strategic plan for his promotion to this leadership role. Since joining, Sereni has played a pivotal role in advancing Flâneur’s winemaking program. In his new role, Sereni will direct and oversee all winemaking operations, marking the start of an exciting new chapter as the winery celebrates 12 years of crafting world-class Willamette Valley wines this coming vintage.

“Since joining us in 2022, Anthony has made a significant impact on our wines,” Said Owner, Marty Doerschlag. “His ability to seamlessly blend art and science has been instrumental in crafting exceptional wines. We are fortunate to have him as a valued member of the team, both for his expertise and his collaborative spirit.”

Sereni got his start in winemaking working aboard namely in New Zealand and Spain, where he experienced firsthand the dedication and creativity required to produce exceptional wines. A passion for Oregon Chardonnay led Sereni to pursue a Master’s degree in Enology at Oregon State University, where he conducted research on the mouthfeel of Chardonnay—a topic close to his heart. After completing his thesis in 2016, Anthony joined the prestigious winemaking team at Archery Summit, where he honed in his skills and had a hand in making world-class wines before joining the talented team at Flâneur Wines.

“Flâneur is comprised of an incredible group of passionate individuals who love what they do and where they are,” said Sereni. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue crafting wines from Flâneur’s estate vineyards and to grow alongside these wonderful people. We aim to honor the land and create pleasure in a glass for our community. Grant, who has instilled the vineyards and wines with craft and integrity, has set a high standard that I am excited to build upon. We all learn from mentors, co-workers, and peers throughout our journeys, and I am eager to apply what I have learned to these wines.”

A New Jersey native, Sereni now calls McMinnville, Oregon, home. When he isn’t working, you can find him rock climbing, rollerblading, trail running, or hunting down exceptional coffee roasters. He also enjoys reading a good book and creating outstanding recipes in his kitchen.

About Flâneur Wines

A flâneur is, quite simply, a leisurely wanderer, a worldly explorer, a connoisseur of life. The word, hailing from 19th-century France, captures the idea that the mind functions best at a slow pace, and that curiosity can uncover a life of significance. This was the life that Founder, Marty Doerschlag lived between selling his first company and starting Flâneur Wines in 2013.

Flâneur Wines focuses primarily on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sparkling wines as well as some smaller bottlings of Pinot Meunier, Grüner Veltliner, Aligoté and Gamay from their two contrasting estate vineyards, La Belle Promenade Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains AVA and Flânerie Vineyard in the Ribbon Ridge AVA. Both of which are organically dry farmed, in house. Their wines are unfined, unfiltered, native yeast fermented with a diverse use of barrels and a wide range of whole-cluster inclusion.

Flâneur’s winery and hospitality space is located downtown Carlton in the thoughtfully restored, Carlton Grain Elevator. In the summer months, guests are welcome to experience the unhurried life of the flaneur vineyard-side for a tasting in a rustic Blue Barn atop their La Belle Promenade Vineyard. Each space sets the scene for all that Flâneur embodies: a beautiful environment to enjoy exciting wines, paired with an unforgettable experience that slowly unfolds – just like each bottle of their wine. https://www.flaneurwines.com/
