Healdsburg, Sonoma County, February 28th, 2024 – Mill Creek Vineyards & Winery is thrilled to announce its golden jubilee as it marks 50 years of crafting exceptional wines in the renowned Dry Creek Valley AVA.

Founded in 1965 and producing their first vintage of wine in 1974, Mill Creek Vineyards & Winery has had a long and distinguished span in the wine world. Situated in the heart of Sonoma County, the winery takes pride in being the first to plant Cabernet Sauvignon in Dry Creek Valley, contributing to the region’s viticultural legacy.

Notable among Mill Creek’s achievements is the distinction of being one of the pioneers in producing Merlot as a varietal wine. The winery has not only embraced tradition but also innovated, coining and trademarking the word “Blush” for its rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon which redefined a category for decades to follow.

What sets Mill Creek Vineyards & Winery apart is not just its rich history but its commitment to quality and family values. The winery remains owned and operated by the founding Kreck family, with three generations who have dedicated over five decades to cultivating grapes and crafting wines that embody the essence of Dry Creek Valley. As one of the original vintners in the post-prohibition era, the Krecks fondly remember the days when tastings were conducted at the family dinner table in the farmhouse on the property.

“We are overjoyed to celebrate this incredible milestone of 50 years in the wine industry,” said Bill Kreck, co-founder and owner of Mill Creek Vineyards & Winery. “Our journey has been one of passion, dedication, and a love of farming and winemaking. We are grateful to our loyal patrons, industry partners and the community for their support throughout the years.”

To commemorate this special occasion, Mill Creek Vineyards & Winery will be hosting a series of events and tastings throughout the year, inviting wine enthusiasts to join the celebration. From casual winemaker lunches to a summer anniversary party, there will be opportunities for both long-time fans and new acquaintances to be part of this historic milestone.
