The 2023 OIV Awards Winners Celebrated in Paris

September 22nd – In a ceremony held at the residence of the Serbian embassy in Paris, the OIV awards winners  received their diplomas. The Members of the Jury granted 14 Awards, 8 Special Mentions and one  Acknowledgment among 76 applications in competition  

The winners of the 2023 OIV Awards received their diploma in a ceremony held in Paris,  the 21st of September 2023 at the residence of the Serbian embassy, by the hands of the  OIV President Luigi Moio, the Award Jury President, Azélina Jaboulet-Vercherre, and  the Award Jury Scientific Secretary Richard Pfister. 

In this year’s edition, the Members of the Jury granted 14 Awards, 8 Special Mentions  and one Acknowledgment. 76 applications were submitted to the 2023 edition: a  record number!  

Books on competition represented a total of 27 countries (member and non-members  of the OIV included), with France and Italy leading the majority of applications. The event was attended by numerous representatives of the Diplomatic Corps,  together with the publishing houses of the awarded books.

Wine Vision by Open Balkan  

Member of the OIV, Serbia warmly welcomed the event at the Embassy in Paris offering  a Serbian wine tasting after the ceremony organised by the renowned sommelier Stevan  Ratja. A foretaste of the Wine Vision Open Balkan fair, which has de OIV Patronage of  the International Year of Vine and Wine. 

The Second International Wine Fair “Wine vision By Open Balkan”, which will be held in  Belgrade from 16 to 19 November 2023, under the auspices of the Governments of  Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania. The first edition of the fair was held in September  2022 and gathered over 350 exhibitors from 20 countries, while professional buyers and  exhibitors from over 40 countries in Europe and the world took part in the B2B  meetings. 

2024 OIV Awards Inscriptions are open  

The applications for the 2024 OIV Awards’ edition opened the 1st September of 2023,  until the 28th of February 2024. To apply, applicants must complete the form and send  the requested files online here.

The OIV Award is a distinction set out in the OIV Rules of Procedure, granted each year  by an international Jury composed of eminent personalities in the vitivinicultural world  who represent the OIV Member Countries. It is a recognition on the international scale,  a reference in the vitivinicultural sector since 1930. 

The Jury thus recognises, with the OIV Award, works of reference in each of the 12  categories open to competition. Its decision is absolute and based on consensus. 

About OIV

The OIV is the intergovernmental organisation of a scientific and technical nature of recognised  competence for its work concerning vines, wine, wine-based beverages, table grapes, raisins and other vine based products. It is composed of 50 Member States. 

The OIV’s main objectives are to: Inform its Member States of measures concerning producers, consumers  and other players in the vine and wine products sector. Assist other international organisations, especially those which carry out standardisation activities. Contribute to the international harmonisation of existing practices and standards, improving the conditions for producing and marketing vine and wine products, and  helping ensure that the interests of consumers are taken into account.
