Berlin, CT (September 5, 2023) – The Roots Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to creating inclusive opportunities for communities of color throughout the wine industry, announced today they will host their first event for the Hispanic and Latinx community in the Napa region, Fiesta De La Vid, on November 18th from 3:00 – 9:00 PM at Burgess Cellars in Napa. The night will celebrate the community, as a recognition for all they do for the wine industry. The event will be a private, invitation-only event. They are currently seeking sponsors and partners to get involved in this event and give back to the Latinx community through this celebration.

“Harvest is the busiest time of the year for wineries, and we wanted to show our appreciation for the Hispanic and Latinx community and find a way to celebrate their contributions to Napa Valley. It’s a time to toast the end of the season in a fun, authentic way for vineyard and winery staff along with their families,” said Ikimi Dubose-Woodson, The Roots Fund CEO. “Roots Fund scholars have been asking us to create an experience that will bring the community together and showcase the impact that Latin people are having on the industry. We are incredibly excited about what we have planned.”

Fiesta De La Vid will feature wine tasting sessions from Hispanic winemakers, Latin-inspired food trucks, Napa and Sonoma winery tastings, a DJ and Mariachi band, and family-fun tents with a bounce house, face painting and more. The afternoon will also provide access to services including general wellness and mental health check-ins with OLE Health, banking providers, and local colleges.

The organization is currently seeking sponsors, gift bag donations, food, and participants for the event. All donations will go towards educational scholarships for the Hispanic/LatinX community in Napa/Sonoma and surrounding areas.

Since launching three years ago, The Roots Fund has awarded 197 scholarships and has seen an 88% success rate with scholars being employed after a year in the program. The Roots Fund has had a significant number of Latinx scholars to date, and is looking to expand that in 2024.
