Promoted from Cellar Lead, Hill will continue working with Founder and Winemaker Sherman Thacher at the family-run estate winery in Paso Robles.
July 17, 2023 (Paso Robles, Calif.) – Thacher Winery and Vineyard is proud to announce it has promoted Brenna Hill to Assistant Winemaker.
Hill has been an integral part of the Thacher winemaking team for several years, working alongside Founder and Winemaker Sherman Thacher. Beginning as a Harvest Intern in 2021, she was named Cellar Lead in the run-up to the 2022 Harvest.
Together, Hill and Thacher will manage wine production and oversee Thacher’s two Estate Vineyards, the original Vineyard in the Adelaida District AVA, and Homestead Hill Vineyard, located in the Willow Creek District AVA.
“Brenna’s skills and artful approach in the cellar have already helped us produce some of our most exciting wines, ” says Sherman Thacher. “We share a passion for experimenting with winemaking methods and working with both mainstream and lesser-known grape varieties. I look forward to working alongside her on many vintages to come.”
Born and raised in San Marcos, Calif., Hill graduated from San Diego State University with the idea of becoming an elementary school teacher. In 2019, she landed what she thought was going to be a short-term diversion: a Harvest Internship at Jacob Toft Winery. Instead, she found her calling. She worked at Jacob Toft for two years in the cellar and tasting room before joining Thacher.
“Thacher was already one of my favorite wineries, so I couldn’t be happier to take on the role of Assistant Winemaker,” says Hill.
