Lompoc, CA (April 7, 2023) – Join Flying Goat Cellars in a celebration of “Down to Earth” (D2E) Month throughout April and especially on April 15th. D2E is the annual CA Wine Institute campaign that highlights and celebrates California’s sustainable viticulture and winemaking leadership. “Invest in our Planet” is the theme of Earth Day this year and we’ll be sharing some of our efforts toward that goal. We source from regenerative vineyards and have sustainable practices in the cellar and tasting room. We also practice backyard beekeeping, drought tolerant gardening and vermiculture. Lompoc Valley Beekeepers Association demonstration hive and Route One Farmers Market mobile truck will be there too! We’ll talk up our passions with you over wine and snacks. All ages are welcome at the celebration. Let’s all “invest in our planet.”

Lompoc Valley Beekeepers Association (LVBKA) is a community organization that brings together passionate beekeepers in the Lompoc Valley. The group of beekeepers are unpaid volunteers who remove swarms as a community service. LVBKA also seeks to help others learn more about honey bees and those interested in beekeeping become established and responsible apiarists.

Route One Farmers Market seeks to increase access to local and sustainably grown food with a special focus placed on easing access to fresh and healthy local foods and bridging barriers that hinder our low-income community from shopping at farmers markets. Route One hosts more than a dozen vendors from the Central Coast, including many businesses that are owned and operated here in the Lompoc Valley. Route One Farmers Market now offers a mobile truck to be conveniently found at various locations throughout Lompoc during the week.

CA Wine Institute’s California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA) offers a new website dedicated to the Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing program. Developed for trade, media, consumers and visitors who want to find sustainable wines, wineries and vineyards that are certified with a rigorous third-party audit, the website also illustrates how sustainable vineyards and wineries are making wine in an environmentally and socially responsible way. The California wine industry is visibly a global leader in sustainability. Please share with others and use popular hash tags #CaliforniaWines and #D2EMonth.
