Secures Estate Fruit Sourcing and Commitment to Producing Quality Sauvignon Blanc

ST. HELENA, Calif., Jan. 25, 2023 — Today, Rombauer Vineyards announced the acquisition of a premium Sonoma vineyard totaling 54 planted vine acres in the prestigious Sonoma Valley, California appellation.

“The Rombauer family takes pride in producing high quality wines from premier California vineyards,”  said President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Knebel. “Owning and managing our own estate vineyards with premium fruit is important as we continuously improve in quality and style to always deliver the best wine to our customers.”

This vineyard, lovingly called “Carriger Two” by the Rombauer team, is located within a region that has served as a primary source of Sauvignon Blanc for Rombauer, since they expanded the portfolio to include the variety in 2014. It sits adjacent to the Carriger One Vineyard, acquired by Rombauer in 2022, in a small pocket on the southwestern reach of Sonoma Valley, an historical AVA with a tradition of winegrowing dating back over 150 years.

“This vineyard has been a source for Rombauer’s popular Sauvignon Blanc, a highly-requested variety, and this acquisition will help us meet demand for this wine” continued Knebel. “The site is perfectly situated between our other Sauvignon Blanc vineyards in the warmer Napa Valley and cooler Russian River Valley. The fruit brings punchy varietal intensity to the wine.”

This vineyard purchase follows Rombauer Vineyards’ acquisition of Carriger One in Sonoma Valley, Haire Vineyard in Carneros-Sonoma, and a Fiddletown vineyard in the Amador AVA, all acquired in April 2022 to secure consistent quality fruit sourcing for Rombauer wines.
