Presenting a New Generation of Liners for Wine Screw Caps

At the Unified Expo 2023, Herti will present a new generation of liners for wine screw caps (Alkovin Active). The liner binds and deactivates the volatile sulphur compounds (VSCs) responsible for undesirable odors.

To protect the wine and preserve its fruity varietal aromas, the ideal screw cap must be equipped with a sealing liner able to offer highest oxygen barrier performance. However, the choice of such a low Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR) liner can lead to the formation of volatile sulphur compounds (VSCs) associated with reductive taints, known as “post-bottling reduction flavor”. Alkovin manages these post bottling reductive notes, while offering all the advantages of the classic Tin/Sarantin liner.

Beside the most preferred size PP30x60 mm BVS, for standard wine bottles, the company manufactures other sizes such as 22×15, 22×30, 25×17, 25×43 and 30×24 mm, which are widely used for smaller and miniature bottles in the airplanes and mini- bars in 16 standard stock colors and numerous possibilities for decoration and design.
