Day-long Exploration of the Confluence of Cannabis and Wine; Reimagining the Coexistence
Healdsburg, CA, August 11, 2021 – Wine Industry Network (WIN) hosted the 5th Annual Wine & Weed Symposium on August 5th at the Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country in Santa Rosa, CA. Once again, professionals from the cannabis and wine industries came together to explore the latest information surrounding the impact of legalized recreational cannabis on California’s wine industry with special emphasis on how the cannabis category performed over the last 18 months.
The 5th annual symposium hosted nearly 250 attendees from the wine and cannabis industry. Twenty companies were on hand to showcase new products and services.
Terry Wheatley, President of Vintage Wine Estates and Chairwoman of the Board for CannaCraft, delivered the event’s keynote speech. Wheatley spoke to the intersection of the wine and weed industries and how each can learn and profit from the other. And with cannabis sales predicted to be at $421 million by the end of 2021, at $1 billion by 2025 and $100 billion by 2030, “Who in their right mind would not be interested in that,” she asked the audience.
Following Wheatley, a talented line-up of expert speakers from both industries discussed a wide range of data analysis and business opportunities: cannabis market data, the beverage industry’s increased investment in cannabis, cannabis consumer purchasing trends, and the future of dual cannabis-wine tourism—among several other topics.
“The conference this year was outstanding on so many levels” said George Christie, President & CEO of Wine Industry Network. “From Terry Wheatley’s opening remarks to the final session of the day, the topics were on point, the speakers were great and the audience was engaged. That’s what makes a great symposium and we’re already working on making next year even better.”
