In-demand French sparkling wine portfolio expands with new offering

Miami, FL (August 9, 2021) – Veuve du Vernay, the #1 French sparkling wine brand under $20 in the U.S., announces an extension to its line in the new Sparkling Extra Dry (SRP $16.99). A fantastic alternative to Prosecco, this launch is well timed alongside National Prosecco Day, August 13. Veuve du Vernay Sparkling Extra Dry is the ideal French counterpart.

“This sparkling wine is a complement to the Veuve du Vernay portfolio, adding an option for those Prosecco drinkers who are looking for a more fruit driven profile” says Carlos Varela, COO of BGPL USA. The Veuve du Vernay portfolio is seeing surging interest in 2021. Driven by an increase in demand for sparkling wines, sales of Veuve du Vernay have seen a 76% increase this June 2021 compared to June 2019. Additionally, the brand has recently renewed its national program with Delta Sky Club as the premier provider of French sparkling wine for all of its lounges and clubs.

Veuve du Vernay Sparkling Extra Dry is a Blanc de Blancs made from a selection of the most concentrated grapes. This proprietary blend gives the wine a floral and fruity nose with fresh brioche aromas. Varela notes, “As more consumers are looking for options similar to Prosecco that match up to diverse cuisines, the Sparkling Extra Dry is a standout option that combines fruitiness and acidity for the ideal balance.”

The Veuve du Vernay range is widely distributed in the US. Trade information can be found on RangeMe and a store locator on www.veuveduvernay.com.

About Veuve du Vernay

Veuve du Vernay is the leading French sparkling wine brand under $20 in the United States, channeling classic Parisian lifestyle and joie de vivre. It was founded in the 1960s by Robert Charmat, the son of scientist, Eugene Charmat who patented the Charmat Method of producing sparkling wines. Robert Charmat employed this method of trapping the carbonation from secondary fermentation to make his own sparkling wines full of fresh aromas and flavors. Robert named his wines for a widow in Vernay who helped his father during his early winemaking days. Veuve in French means widow. Veuve du Vernay is produced by Patriarche. Founded in 1780 in Beaune, the heart of Burgundy, Patriarche is a leading wine producer in France with two areas of focus: Burgundy appellation wines and fine sparkling wines.

  1. I am based in South Africa, province of KwaZulu-Natal and city of Pietermaritzburg. I would like to know a retailer in my area that distributes Veuve Du vernay currently. I used to source it from Makro, but since we don’t have Makro anymore, I can’t get i anywhere these days.

  2. I am based in Ripon, England…When my wife and I married – way back in 1974 – the wine of choice for our reception was Veuve Du Vernay Sparkling Brut…For many years now, we have been unable to source this wine in England, which is a real shame as it is renowned in the U.S. (as the #1 under $20 a bottle brand of Sparkling White wine)…This new launch is of great interest, and it would be great to order a case (or two)…An enquiry earlier this year revealed that Veuve Du Vernay were trying to set up a U.K. distributor, as ordering directly was prohibitively expensive…Any news on a potential U.K. distributor would be most welcome…Ewen Lawrie
