A Knockout Award Season for the Small Craft Winery in Crestline

Crestline, CA June 29, 2021 – Once again it is award season, and once again Sycamore Ranch Vineyard and Winery continues to punch well above their weight garnering multiple Best in Class, Double Gold and Gold medals for their handcrafted wines. SRV is unique to these competitions as their small size and dedication to quality winemaking competes head-to-head with the resources and size of some of the finest wineries in the world. As with David and Goliath, sometimes the little guy wins.

The biggest winner of the entered wines was their 2019 Quail Run Vineyard Mourvèdre which was awarded Double Gold/Best in Class Red and at 99 points, the overall highest score of all entered wines in the Orange County Commercial Wine Competition. Other notable awards include Best of Class/Double Gold for their 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon (98 pts) and 2019 Ranch Red (97 pts) from the Sunset International Wine Competition. SRV was also awarded four gold medals from the Central Coast Wine Competition with entrants limited only to wines sourced from the Central Coast AVA’s.

“This is a big deal, as all of these competitions are blind tasted and judged by some of the most well-respected wine industry professionals,” said winemaker Richard Krumwiede, “Goes to show what quality grapes, knowledge, hard-work, and attention to detail can do.” The competition included thousands of wines. Sunset International had over 2900 wines submitted, Orange County judged over 2400 wines, and the Central Coast competition (featuring wines exclusively sourced from Central Coast AVA’s) had over 94 wineries enter with 508 wines judged. Overall, SRV placed 30 wines, 14 of which placed gold or better and 16 silver. A full listing of all their awards can be found on their website.

All SRV wines are produced at the “Ranch” located in the San Bernardino County mountain community of Crestline, with fruit sourced from premier Central Coast vineyards. The small, craft winery and ciderworks is situated on 3 1/2 acres of picturesque vineyards, orchards, and beautifully landscaped grounds. They produce about 800 cases of Bordeaux and Rhone style varietals per year.

Tastings and on-site sales are welcomed by appointment: (909)338-1725. Wines and hard ciders are also for sale on their website: SycamoreRanch.com
