Six Small Lot Wineries Unite to Bring the Best of Napa Together in One Unique Setting

NAPA, CA, (June 8, 2021) – Founded out of a collective desire to capture the spirit of Napa’s finest appellations in an inspired community-driven space, Mia Carta debuts a new, thoughtfully-designed tasting lounge in the heart of downtown Napa on June 17. Located on the ground floor of the historic Native Sons of the Golden West building at the corner of First and Coombs Street, Mia Carta is home to a collective of six family-owned and operated ultra-premium, small lot Napa Valley wineries – Art House WinesEssere NapaIlsley VineyardsRARECAT WinesRedmon Wines and Sciandri Family Vineyards. The restored space offers a comfortable vibe that seamlessly marries the original architecture with sustainable modern technologies designed to enhance the customer experience, as well as exceed health & safety standards.

Mia Carta celebrates journey – and all the intersecting figurative and literal paths that lead forward towards progress and discovery. For today’s modern wine explorer, Mia Carta offers an insider’s passport to lesser-known, small-production wines from Napa’s premiere growing regions, all in one sensory-driven, thoughtfully designed space.

“As a destination, Napa is experiencing a unique shift in how travelers spend their time here,” said Stephanie Mesher, Partner, Mia Carta. “Over the past several years, downtown Napa has transformed into a bustling urban metropolis with luxury hotels, five-star restaurants, shopping and tasting rooms, all within walking distance. As visitors see less need to leave downtown, Mia Carta presents an innovative means to discover hidden Napa gems while also enjoying face-to-face access to the vintners behind the wines.”

Designed by award-winning architecture firm INTERSTICE Architects, Mia Carta features a spectacular two-story, three-dimensional wall map of the city of Napa crafted from CNC-milled walnut cabinetry that spans the entire length of the tasting bar. The custom map wall is complemented by an exceptionally lofted space with 15-foot stamped metal ceilings; a sustainably produced, floor-to-ceiling cork wall; exposed brick, original to the 1914 structure; massive live-edge communal tables; and refined wood detailing throughout. A folding glass window façade opens onto First Street to facilitate an inviting indoor-outdoor California wine-tasting experience for guests.

For occasions that lead to journeys beyond the tasting lounge, the space also showcases an on-call vintage Piaggio “Ape” food cart (pronounced ah’-pay in Italian for “Bee”). Retrofitted to serve wine on tap at events, when Mia Carta’s resident “Ape del Vino” (Wine Bee) isn’t out and about, it holds court in its reserved parking spot, centrally located in the main tasting room.

Beyond the aesthetic grandeur of the lounge, modern technology has been implemented to enhance guest experience and safety. The interior air passes through both a HEPA filtration unit and a UV sanitizer ensuring an immaculate, safe environment for guests. The custom tin ceiling tiles have been microperforated with acoustic tiles fitted behind to minimize noise interference and ensure easy conversation. A Crysalli water system installed behind the bar sustainably supplies still and sparkling water, minimizing waste with reusable bottles.

On the heels of the reopening of California, Mia Carta is scheduled to officially open its doors to the public at full capacity on June 17. Located at 1209 First Street across from the Archer Hotel in downtown Napa, the new tasting room collective will be open to guests Wednesdays thru Sundays from 11am-7pm. Menu offerings include wines available by the glass or bottle, as well as customizable wine flights. For more information, please visit www.miacartanapa.com.
